No reason to. If by some miracle Rudolph makes a jump in his career ala Mayfield/Darnold, they will extend him anyway. Even if they signed him for 3 years they would rework that contract and extend him at a higher salary.

No, you are wrong and are mixing apples and oranges. Rudolph was never given a starter window like Mayfield and Darnold and is not comparable. Rudoilph needs to be given his window.

Mayfield was the first overall pick. Darnold was drafted No. 2 overall. You do realize guys taken that high get more of a leash than a third-rounder, right?

I may hate myself later for asking this, but please articulate why you think Rudolph should be given a window.

Not 32 GMs decided. Our GM drafted Rudolph. You are wrong. The problem was he drafted him while Ben was under contract, and then that GM retired. You are wrong. You are regurgitated someone's bullsht about 32 GMs. And dk GMs btw, if most of them knew what they were doing their teams would be doing better. So that call on GM authority is wrong too. They are no authority just because they have power.

I’ll dumb this down for you as best as I can

Mason was just a Free Agent

Any GM could have signed him to be a starter

31 of them didn’t even sign him as a backup

1 signed him as a backup

He had his 7 years and now he is relegated to being a backup or washing cars

I can’t dumb it down any more than that

Don’t think you comprehended what I wrote. Im saying if he makes that kind of jump in his play they will have every opportunity to extend him anyway.

Please articulate your logic for why the Steelers should give Rudolph a three-year window.

Well let's see, they drafted a guy in the 1st, signed another guy who was a 1st round pick, traded for a guy who was a 1st round pick, and signed a SB winning QB, none lasted 3 years.

    Let me teach you

The GM who drafted Rudolph is retired

Our GM Omar did not draft Rudolph

See isn’t it fun to learn

I don't even know if Mason should be given the backup roll right now. Last year he played in 8 games and had 9 TDs and 9 Ints. Not exactly something you can hang your hat on .

I still believe the Steelers need to bring in 2 new QBs. 1 to compete for the starting job, and 1 to compete for the backup roll.

Granted 1 of those new QBs could come from the draft.

MR was a Colbert pick and T didn't sign off on it. So coach was butt hurt and never liked Rudolph. That was always my feeling. Plus the Miles Garrett BS just sucked for Mason. Plus Ben chirping in Tomlins ear....Sheesh dude never had a chance. Seems like teammates liked him tho ? I want to see him ball out this season . Kahn should see what Josh Rosen is up to these days and bring him in. I heard he was selling insurance, those guys have been known to play QB .

I don’t see why he needs to be given a window. Despite people talking about how strong his arm is, I never saw it. On the contrary, I thought his mid-range throws to the sideline were always slow getting there.

I think a lot of people point to the winning streak Rudolph had right before leaving us; however, two of those teams had bad pass defenses and the third win was against the Ravens bench players.

It doesn’t seem like there was a ton of interest in Rudolph when he hit free agency last year.

This year, he hit free agency and is back in Pittsburgh (probably knowing he is going to be slotted as a backup).

I think it is telling what the league thinks about Mason, given the stupid amounts of money being thrown at QBs.

So Tomlin didn’t sign off on MR, was butt hurt, and never liked Rudolph; yet MR is back in town and signed with the Steelers?

Considering that there is GM turnover every year, and Mason has hit free agency twice, it’s more than 32 GMs.
