Regarding defensive backs and safeties. They took Edmunds in the 1$t round, a move that baffled me and apparently Edmunds himself.
Mom n Dad and he himself were at the draft to support his brothers 1$t round pick, he wasn’t even on the radar. Tomlin liked the parents and the example they set, made them happy with both sons going first round.

Ratbirds picked Lamar right after that.

And yet your boy Mikey hasn’t won a playoff game in 8yrs?! Longest drought out of any!
At least it in the 80s we still won playoff games with scrub qbs!
Get off Mikeys nuts, he needs to breathe

And you're still wrong you really think Cowher is going to fully corroborate Dan's story correctly? It makes Cowher look bad for wanting to draft OL over a future hall of fame QB.

I'm sure Ben would've loved that if they took a QB in the first round, we saw how he acted when they drafted Mason.

It isn’t up to Ben. If our organization would run the team instead of the players

See once again you are wrong and here I am teaching you free of charge

Cowher made it very clear that he did not expect Ben to be available and if not he wanted an OL

He also made it very clear that if Ben was available that was who he would take

You stated “And if Dan Rooney didn't force Cowher to draft Ben”

    That was a false statement

See isn’t it fun to learn

how is he a great coach? Is he a great guy? Friend? What about the results? What about Winning? And I mean in the postseason not 10-7 regular season records. Or 10-6 to 12-4 records with Ben and AB and that line and top 10 defense only to be upset in the first round again and again. He might have been great once but that was 15 years ago since he did anything of consequence.

I think the word great is being used too loosely here.

Cowher would've drafted Philip Rivers over Ben if he was available

Well.... the players and coaches of the NFL, the people who know better than us, the people that would know, say he is a great coach. I would say that trumps your disappointment bias as a fan.

Wrong, there were plenty of reports that Cowher liked Rivers over Ben. Don't forget both of them went to North Carolina State.

I see logic is not your strong point

    Read this slowly

Cowher said if Ben was there that he was going to take him

That is as simple as I can make it for you

Yeah, after Dan told him to ;). Everybody knows Cowher really wanted to draft Shawn Andrews.

Yes. Vic Fangio definitely did a lot for that Philly Defense. That said, let us not discredit that defense alone. Outside of Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, many of those 2024 Eagles Defenders were holdovers from the previous season.

In 2023, their defense wasn't very good... at all. Faded bad down the stretch. A year later, with the same personnel?! Much better.

Coaching indeed does make a difference but the right players have to be there for the system to work.
