We’ll never know, I think he would have. He was clearly over drafted and wasn’t the QB you thought he was.

Hamilton was my preferred choice and Willis led a group of four QBs that I wanted. I still like Willis better, would take him over Pickett all day.

"We wont win anything in the next few years anyway, that is more than fine" ?

I disagree with you, look at these acquisitions already on defense Harrison, Slay, Echols,

    Offense, Gainwell, Metcalf, Parham, Rudolph

    Plus more.to come

The only person who thinks it's "fine" to clean house and rebuild is you, don't bother replying

You act as if I was the only one who had him late first or early second round. Go back and find even one mock draft that didn't have him in the first round. Hell, some had him in the top 10.

I do not remember you talking about Hamilton. I do remember you going on and on about Willis.

Likely not. Mason was on the Titans, a crappy run team, much like Justin was on the crappy run Bears. Mason is not great, but familiar with the Steelers and can throw a deep ball.

He is serviceable and better than Mike Tomlin's plumber taking snaps.

There aren't great options for the Steelers in 2025.

What do they say is the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results? I'm surprised Rudolph signed with us after how he seemed to be ignored by Tomlin and was only put in as a last resort and did ok.

Doesn't look like Cam or T.J. winning any playoff games so far.

And so ends the Skylar Thompson era

Not yet, I mean, it is just Mason Rudolph.

And some people had Willis rated the best QB in the draft going top 10, whats your point? You were still wrong. At least the Steelers didn’t waste a 1st rd pick on my guy.

I do not remember you talking up Linderbaum, I do remember you going on about Pickett. @AskQuestionsLater@AskQuestionsLater knows I liked Hamilton, he was both our guy.

I guess the narrative that Rudolph was a scorned former player who had an issue with the Steelers doesn’t hold water.

And here we’ve got a response a three year old can beat.

hard to defend Tomlin these days, isn’t it?

I hope Mason is our starter ---and the Steelers let him start the whole season. Stop screwing over QB Steelers--- pulling them after a few games. letting another QB who stinks--- finish the year. People want the Steelers to suck .Then let our starter start all year then maybe he will suck ---maybe we won't--- Stop pulling the starter---- that's why Fields left. its BS --that's why Kenny got mad.

That 8 million dollars coming in next two years for possibly a back up gig can soothe a lot of scorn. If you can manage a back up gig in the nfl for long term, it’s a great situation. The fans like you, your body doesn’t get beat up and after 10 years in the league you can command a very decent salary that can set you for life. Also if you lose a game, no great expectations as you are the back up qb and didn’t get the reps. If you manage to win, it’s accolades all around as if you won a playoff game.

    Why

    Fields is a back up

    Mason is a backup

    Mason is cheaper

Linderbaum was my guy as well.

That said, we were both of the opinion of Hamilton; a very unique breed of DB. He wasn't the mere safety so many thought of him. Zach Orr just had him playing the wrong way during the first half of the season.

Second half of the season?! Different story.

You remember poorly. I talked up Linderbaum long before that draft and on draft day. Unlike Hamilton, there was a realistic chance Linderbaum would be there for the Steelers and he was. Hamilton was never going to fall that far.

To be fair, I also would have preferred Dax Hill over any of the quarterbacks. Oops.

My response to them taking Pickett was that he wasn't my preference, but at least it was better than taking Willis. I wrote that I hoped that because they knew him better than any other team, that meant they knew what they were doing.

I think you were the one who kept saying that they weren't going to take Linderbaum because Tomlin wasn't at his pro day, but I do remember that you were impressed by him as well.

Regarding Hamilton, I think we all knew Aidan Hutchinson was likely to be special, too, but neither guy was realistically going to fall to the Steelers.

I was looking through the 2022 draft thread. I found this little nugget.

My posts on that thread leading up to the pick were entirely about not wanting Willis.

You did not complain about them taking Pickett at the time. You wrote that you wanted Willis, but he was still one of the four you wanted.

I posted that anyone with any faith in Colbert and Tomlin has to believe it is a good pick because they knew him so well.
