I don't know the whole story. It seems like a no brainer to me. Sign Aaron Rogers as QB. I get he struggled with the Jets, but the Steelers have 2 top receivers currently. Need to get the ball into their hands.

Sign the man! What am I missing?

Hes 40+ years old. There are numerous reports and quotes by former teammates about his cancerous nature.
Signing him for 40+ million leaves us in the exact same position next year. Scrambling to find a qb

Have you ever listened to the man speak? lmao he's nuts. Also, his peripherals are ass.

However, for a one-year stopgap, it is what it is. He or Russ should be OK with DK and Pickens.

So this essentially what i am asking in part. I'm not familiar with drama although I've heard he had issues.

Of course multimillion dollar a year contracts get to your head.

I'll also add Metcalf also is an ego head case. So I guess in the NFL if you'll can't manage these overinflated egos you are going to have problems regardless.

What would the market for Russ Wilson be? I wonder how much more or less. We got a QB bargain price last year as Denver was paying the rest.

What is the other option? Mason Rudolph for a year and draft a QB this year that will most likely be a backup if not out of the league in a couple years?

It doesn't sound like the ideal 'win now' scenario Rooney is shooting for.

Well, then maybe someone needs to explain to him that "win now" means you open free agency with eyes on who you want and you go get them, so you aren't sitting there a few days later debating over whether it would be better to ride with your former backup or a 42 y/o diva guy well past his prime.

But he was 8th in yards and 7th in tds last year so washed up is not accurate

If you are complaining just to complain please be accurate

Rogers is perfect to fill the seats and get to 9 wins. Not much else is needed to meet the hiring criteria.

I like Rodgers and I think he possibly has one more magical season in the tank. The key word is possibly, and his age and that comes with it, to me, is a much bigger concern than his reputation for drama. I don't think he's washed up, though. The Jets are a total disaster and I think Rodgers could have been a lot better on a different team. If thr Steelers can manage a decent price in acquiring him, then they should - but they absolutely shouldn't over pay it. I think Mason Rudolph is a perfectly reasonable starter and his deal is conveniently right up to the 2026 draft - which is exactly where the Steelers should be looking if they want a QB, imo.

Other than asking for a trade from a team that wasn’t going to pay him, what do you have that indicates Metcalf is a head case?

The only way I would want him signed is with a really top heavy incentive laden contract which I know he would never sign. The guy is one concussion away from being over the coo coo nest. Then again he would be throwing the ball to Pickens who seems to already be there.

I don't know if Metcalf is a headcase, but he would get unsportsmanlike penalties.
