The post June 1 cut designation is for the Jets’ cap purposes. Rodgers can be signed when the cut happens (even today) and doesn’t need to wait for June1.

if Rodgers can still throw fast and accurate --I say I want him. If not ---pass on him-- does anyone besides Joe Starkey think Dart would be a good pick --I'm curious...

Here is a real question for the board, it has two parts.

    1) Does anyone here truly believe that if Rodgers is signed by the Steelers that he will show up day 1 of training camp in Latrobe, or show up at all until they are back at Southside?

    2) Does anyone think Tomlin will be tough on him or turned a blind eye like he did with AB. Will he keep the wrapper on him until the regular season.

    1) I think he would probably go to camp.

    2) I think Tomlin would let him do his thing for the most part.

Depends on how much his contract is for. If we sign him up for $40+ million a year, we're getting the ayahuska guzzler on podcasts every week. He'll be here when he feels like it and we damned well better like it.
We sign him for less than $30 mil, he's here to add to his stats and his legacy, and we're his best chance to get a playoff win or two or three before his eventual retirement. Maybe he'll toe the line.

Why wouldn't Rodgers show up day 1 of training camp? He skips the Mini camps.

I thought he pulled a Farve-like type of maybe I'll retire, maybe I won't, last season with the Jets. Leaning on the return from injury as his reasoning to not participate in training camp.

Heard a really good question about Rodgers today on a podcast. Did he make the Jets better?

My answer is not really. They finished the season with 5 wins. They had a fairly easy schedule and played some bottom of the barrel teams. On offense, against a bad defense, you would expect some big numbers. Those big numbers were not there. During the season, Jets points were 19, 24, 24, 9, 17, 20, 15, 22, 21, 6, 27, 21, 26, 32, 9, 14, 32. A total of 338 (Steelers had 380). That put the Jets at a tie with the Saints for 24th in points scored last season (Steelers were 16th).

While individually, Rodgers performed well, he did not elevate the team IMO. I don't think that he is a leader and your QB must be a leader. Rodgers is too concerned about whatever new age bs has caught his eye this week.....or maybe he still wants to host Jeopardy. I don't feel that he will be a team player. I can see him missing training camps, not participating in anything voluntary, and being generally whiny. The story won't be his play on the field, it will be his off field antics. We saw it with Green Bay. We saw it with the Jets. And I expect we will see it with the Steelers should he end up here.

If he does end up here, I will be sad.....but hope for the best and cheer for the team as always.

Either way, we're screwed at QB. Rodgers isn't going to bring much more than Russ did. I get that he was on a bad team and all, but he's just too far past his prime. We might start thinking about selling off TJ (going to be a hard sell on giving him 35-40 million a year while we toe a rebuild) and figuring out the QB situation (this draft or next).

His age and the money are my concerns. Hope the big numbers being thrown about are way off.

I think he is definitely better than Russ through, just the way he approaches the game is better. Rodgers gets the ball out quickly, not interested in playing hero ball, will throw the ball way. Russ holds onto the ball forever, wants to take off running to extend plays, untimely turnovers.

I have been wondering if the Steelers are really going for it this year. Specifically because they signed Metcalf. That is crazy money to spend and out of character for the Steelers. Makes me think they are turning the piggy bank upside down this year to go for it. Maybe the owners have finally gotten tired of 1 and done playoffs? Maybe Tomlin is feeling some heat? That trade just feels different to me. With Metcalf, they need a decent QB (that doesn't hold the ball for a week), and another good RB to complement Warren and the offense will be in pretty solid shape.

Can't imagine the Steelers allowing that to happen without a solid line on a QB right now.

Kenny Pickett is probably wondering what he did in a past life to deserve this.

If Russ ends up signing with Cleveland, I do believe Kenny Pickett will either retire or ask to be traded back to Pittsburgh

He needs to come to the realization that this is the life of a backup QB.

We might have to take him back if Rodgers goes to the Giants or Vikings.
