Sweed was so disappointing because he had all the physical tools...

I was at the AFC Championship game where he dropped that pass. He looked like a giant compared to the CB that was on him and he blew by him in 2 steps. He had an excellent ability of getting open...

Thats why so many of us wanted him to keep getting chances, tools were definitely there, just mental with him, I was hoping he'd finally get over the hurdle.

None of those guys went in the first round so a lot of teams passed on them, Mendenhall was good value at #23 he didn't pan out. You can go back and look at every draft where a team made a mistake in drafting the wrong player.

I'm one of those guys that still weap a little over Sweed. I thought that was one of the best picks ever, at the time (and I'm not alone by a long shot). The few times that he got on the field I was so impressed with his ability to get open that I didn't even care about the dropped passes. Luckily, I'm not the coach because I would still be out on the practice field with him, trying to find a way for him to get it together. I watched what Mendy was capable of while he played at IL and continue to believe he is much better than he was ever allowed to be here, but he shows that things are as much about staying in good graces as anything else. I know he has a lot of haters for whatever reason but you will never convince me, if utilized correctly, he couldn't have been great.

Hows come Kevin Colbert/ Mike Tomlin get a pass on this? Not one of our draft selections
are onthe team right now.People these our the 2 biggest decision makers when aquiring talent.

I'm certainly not giving them a pass, however, I do realize they are human. I bet every organization can be found to have their good drafts and their bad drafts. I think, all in all, we have had decent success in what we do. The draft is a body of trying to be exact in unexact (is this a real word?) science.

Yeah and also every other team has passed on certain people too. I think all of the guys mentioned were passed by other teams because none of them were #1 picks. I honestly can say that I hope we NEVER get the pick of the litter. I can't even IMAGINE what this place would be like if that were the case. LOL.
