I like it. A true #1 elite receiver.

I don't feel that Pickens is going to handle it and ask to be traded. A 2nd is what I would ask.

Metcalf and Pickens would be a duo for sure but this archaic offense won't allow for an air show.

Plus with the contract they are giving Metcalf they sure as hell not going to pay Pickens that kind of money.

 

Pickens should love this. He's putting up incredible numbers with an injured line, old QB and facing the opposing team's best. Now, he has help and a healthy line. This should be an opportunity

Metcalf has never been elite. JJ in Minny is elite. Chase in Cincy is elite. DK’s a 2 being used as a 1. Steelers have to be getting Darnold to make this trade.

 

I’m a little stumped as why we would want Darnold? One good year out of seven? He is still very suspect as we all seen at end of the year.
I’ll be the minority here, hell to the no for Darnold.

 

I absolutely despise Pickens so I’m no fan. However, If Pickens has half a brain cell he’d realize this Metcalf pick-up is only going to help make him all the better. Look at how good Ju Ju Smith S was when AB was playing verses when AB left. If Pickens finally gets his head out of his a** we could “maybe” be a real playoff contender now.

 

Ugh... I hope we have a QB that can keep both him and Pickens happy, if not the team is in trouble.

 

I really like the trade! Pretty excited about it, but the O needs some changes for this to be as much of a difference maker as it can be.

 

Metcalf had 5 tds last year one (uno, 1 , zwei , uno) more touchdowns than our #4 receiver CA3 (4) last year

1. We need a proven commodity
2. Best WR availble via trade
3. Prevents us from being solely reliant on Pickens
4. Salary cap increases will make this a steal if DK stays consistent.

Step back from that craft brew cooler (toss me one first). I'd say Austin III was more the WR3 last year, but whatever. How many TDs has he averaged per year over his career? With Metcalf it's eight - which is how many he had in 2023, as opposed to the 6 in 2022, so I wouldn't say he was in steady decline.

Also, Metcalf averages 77/1108 over a 17-game season. I believe Austin III is 26/364.

 

In fairness, Gino Smith was throwing him the ball. I think Smith had something like 20 touchdowns all season last year (starting 17 games).

Heck, even Wilson ended up with 16 touchdowns (in 11 games).

 

I was reading the Ravens message board and they don't like this one bit. They were complaining about now having to defend not only Chase and Higgins but now have Metcalf and Pickens to defend twice a year. They are worried that the Steelers either sign Darnold or draft the young gunslinger Dart to throw the ball to our new dynamic duo.
