He's a Steelers with a 5 year 150m deal that cost us a 2nd.

 

Making unusual decisions, can't see this bodes well for GP staying around.

Perfect fit. If we keep Russ, there's familiarity. If we roll with Fields, he has weapons. If we draft a QB, then he'll have young options on both sides of the field plus Roman Wilson in the slot. I still want one more WR like a Slayton type and a RB. I hope the Steelers aren't done. It's time to load this offense up with some HOMERUN hitters.

 

Pickens is going to hate this. Our passing game isn't strong enough to support two guys, at least not the way they both want to be used. DK is who he is. Pickens is going to be a distant #2.

 

I saw on x from a couple network insiders, forget the names but usually accurate the deal was set and a contract was in the works, this was around 5 PM.

Maybe he asks trade, perhaps they want to trade him, maybe he sucks it up....thorough opinion. lol

 

DK is an elite WR, no doubt, and we desperately needed a playmaker on offence. I'm torn on this trade though. I feel like we could have got someone much cheaper, and combined with Pickens, would have been enough. We need so much help elsewhere, and that's a lot of money for a WR.

Not saying I don't like it. I'm just torn. I need more time to process it maybe.

 

3rd highest paid WR next to Justin Jefferson and CeeDee Lamb. Oh he gon' catch some balls for us.

It won't matter much if the offense is still run the same way.

 

But a major problem with our offense in the past was that when we were down 2 scores we didn't have the weapons to come from behind when we scrapped the run game. Now with Fautanu back, Roman Wilson back, Metcalf, Pickens, and if we add a pass catching do it all RB then we'll be able to win by passing the football if need be.

 

I get what you're saying, but the Steelers could have called the exact same plays last season and replaced their NPCs with DK and been way better. He's a differencemaker, OC be damned. I'm not saying Arthur doesn't need to get his **** together, but DK is a truly elite receiver.

 

This strikes me as upgrading the WR room while sending notice to Pickens. The Eagles have shown two $25M APY receivers can be had on a team (in addition to a franchise QB), but AJ Brown and Devonte Smith are cut from a different cloth. Metcalf can easily take over the 'X' role if Pickens isn't retained. Also gives them a year to (hopefully) see what Wilson can bring.

 

That's alot of money and a higher draft pick than I would've given up.

What ESPN is reporting- Steelers get Metcalf and a 6th, Seahawks get 2nd and a 7th. Contract is 4 additional years, $132 million along with the $18 million he was owed this year.

 

Use a nerf gun, the other options are a bit overreacting. LOL
