Yeah, I don't think they will make the same mistake as last season with having a WR like Van Jefferson as WR2. This is one position I think they will spend on in free agency Art and Khan said they need more playmakers.

That has to be one of the sickest WR lists in the country. We have seen what GP can do, but also have seen half ass moments. CA3 is fine for what he does, but do not over think what he does. Wilson could be, but right now he is just coming off his rookie year and has never played, the other 2 are travel PS guys, can they make an impact, sure, will they, doubtful.

I think they add a solid two to that room - one in FA, one inside the first two days of the draft.

Davante Adams is available now that the Jets said today that if they can't trade him they will release him.

According to his contract, he's owed $38M in 2025 and again in 2026. For me it's not really about the player this time.

They have to. It doesn't really matter who the quarterback is, if he doesn't have a good spread of receivers, he will just be a glorified handoff man.

How does that work if they release him and another team picks him up? If he's a free agent, but has an existing contract with a previous team..... If somebody else picks him up, are they free to negotiate whatever they want? Or is there some NFL player clause that makes the new team stick with the old contract?

If he’s released, his contract is terminated.

Does this mean, if he is released he will be singing somewhere for League Minimum, because the Jets will be paying him his money in 2025?

No. Once traded, all of his bonus prorations stayed with Las Vegas. The Jets took on his base salary and per game/roster bonuses, none of which is guaranteed, so if he's cut they're terminated along with his contract.

Since Vegas traded him mid-season (post-June 1) they were able to spread some of the dead money they incurred from his bonus prorations over two years, so they've got a $15M in dead money charge for him on the books this year (money that has already been paid to him.)

That all said, he turns 33 this season. I doubt he sees anything close to the extension he signed with the Raiders ($28M APY).

If a player has less than 4 years he has to go through waivers and teams can claim him and assume the remainder of his contract

If he has 4 or more years and is released he is free to sign a new contract with any team at any rate and the old team is still responsible for any guaranteed money

    No

If he is released he can command a higher wage the new team

Same with Russ last year, once released he becomes a FA and can work for any team, the amount owed from the Jets is totally separate and is settled via the contract terms, the CBA.

Off topic, but somewhat same scenario. When Washington traded for Deebo, the 9's apparently agreed to pay some of his salary. Question is are they also responsible for the CAP hit void years, or does that transfer with his trade.

Void year amounts stay with the original team.

From what I read Washington is taking on Deebo's salary with no help from the 49ers.

I was confused, but that actually makes sense with what Thor posted above, 17.5 mill is not bad when you have the weapons and a good QB on rookie contract.

Right now the Steelers offense is going to be a tuff sell for any WR. The Steelers will have to pay through the nose and be the highest offer on the table.

No one will be coming to Pittsburgh on a discount because they want to be on Superbowl team.

Yeah, that's why I am still not eliminating the possibility we go WR in the first round. Than the Khan man can make some moves and we trade up in 2 round to nab Dart and then in the third we get a RB, sometime you have to take risks to.improve and get better

They're taking on his base. San Fran covers leftover bonus prorations. $30M in dead money as I recall.
