Danny Dimes! I knew it was only a matter of time before his name would be tied to them.

Has Filliponi ever actually broken a story? Seems everything he posts is bs.

I’d be fine with it if he is cheap.

Best case, he’s a Ryan Tannehill.

Worst case, he bombs and the Steelers have a higher pick in the deeper QB draft in 2026.

Actually either Jones.... Daniel or Mac would be a good stop gap QB until '26. Let's face it.... Steelers are on the road to nowhere in 2025 with Popcorn. This should be an offseason to cut away some dead wood and bring in some fresh talent.. even if it's UDFA. Hell, throw anything at the wall and see if it sticks.

They are on the road to nowhere no matter who the coach is without a franchise QB.

Exactly. But we can find some diamonds in the rough along the way.... like we did with Willie Parker and James Harrison during the Cowher years.

Big Ben touched on how Pittsburgh can get back to the "Steeler Way" and his answer was quite simple, but telling. The "Steeler Way" that many have known has passed its prime. It's time to evolve and find a way to have football players everywhere once again wanting to play for the organization.

Just like no baseball player wants to play for the Pirates.

Steelers will only adapt when they shake this organization up big time.

the eagles will be releasing several players that could fit well here. sounds like darius slay, avonte maddox and james bradberry will become free agents. nick gates offensive line. can play 4 of 5 positions along the line.

The Steelers roster has a sh!tload of holes in it. There's other positions besides QB that need upgraded for the immediate future of 2025. See Joe Burrow as an example of the best QB in the NFL who is also on the road to nowhere because the vast majority of his team sucks.

There's no QBs in the '25 draft that can help the Steelers.... aka no "Jayden Daniels", no "Bo Nix." There's no realistic free agent QBs who will magically make the Steelers a contender against the Bills and Chiefs. Might as well roll with a journeyman FA QB in '25, build and improve the roster.... and go all in for QB in the 2026 draft.

Well, seeing how all three came to Pittsburgh in the same time.

Those 2 players made huge plays to win the Super Bowls with Ben

    Just saying

We can see how the Bengals are wasting Burrow's talent.
They've lost players they shouldn't have.
They really haven't added players they should have.
    Just mediocre Front Office work.

Up in Buffalo, they re-tool a bit much...
That and the fact that they didn't pay off the stripes.

I think the Franchise QB thing is a bit overstated. You need a QB that can play in big time games and can operate as a game manager above the line. That is enough to win it all.

Ben wasn't a "franchise QB" in 2005. He was a young QB with a lot of upside, but he certainly wasn't a top 5 or even 10 QB at that exact moment in time. Ben in 2008 wasn't a top 5 QB yet, he was probably a top 10 guy (only 1 PB in his first 7 years), but he hadn't reached his full potential.... yet we won the SB anyways. It's because the TEAM around him was excellent, and he played well in big games to win them. If we can build a great team around a QB that just knows how to win (even if they aren't a top 5 QB) then we are truly contenders. Ben was EXCELLENT from 2011 until his injury in 2019, we didn't win anything that mattered during that time. He was a much better player than he was when he won the SB in 2005 and 2008, but it didn't matter because the rest of the team wasn't up to snuff and the QB can't win it by himself (no matter how good he is).

We mystify the "franchise QB" as if it is some unattainable thing that we can't win without. Plenty of teams win (and win in the post season) without a top 5-7 QB. SF has done it over the years pretty consistently. The Ravens won more in the postseason with Flacco than they have with Lamar (and Lamar is infinitely better than Flacco was in his prime). Heck, I'm not even sure that Hurts is truly a top 5 guy (though, he is pretty good) and he just won the SB. Look at how the likes of Burrow, Herbert, Lamar to an extent, even prime Rodgers got squandered....

I am fine with us building a great team outside of the QB position and then trying to find a way to get the RIGHT guy in to win us games when it matters. Maybe its a late first/day two QB that turns into a quality player. Maybe its a reclamation project similar to Mayfield or Darnold. Who knows? But we certainly DONT have to suck to get a "franchise QB" and even if we got lucky and did, it by no means guarantees us victory when the games matter. We should build the best team we can, no matter what.

i just saw where the steelers may go after cooper rush. this i wouldn't mind. i'd still bring back kyle allen as well. these two if fields is brought back may be a pretty decent qb room for a year or two. probably enough to keep the streak going for MT.
