I'm not disagreeing in general, a guy on PA sports network was talking about this Steeler problem. The reliance and pride on Steeler history and the brand, getting to a delusional point where the name overrides the appearance of the product, where the 'Steeler way' becomes the focal point and the loss of what is really going on is apparent to every one except those in the building. We do not know what the real discussions are, but the actions taken so far after last year are minimal. Our ownership is patient, but if you are OK getting embarrassed the last 5 weeks of the season, then again embarrassed in another 1st round play off loss and do not immediately demand certain changes, then you are the beginning of the issues. I disagree, the Minka trade was not bad, how our defensive scheme has used him sucks. It's obvious we are not going to tank, but the endless band aid approach to fix out issues, and the constant do the same thing over when it has not worked is insanity, and that is where we are at,

I believe that at his best, Rodgers was as good a QB as any to ever play, but that time has passed.

Herbert and Lamb were taken before the Steelers would have picked.

Jefferson would have been great, though.

Does it matter what washed up hasben or never was QB on the FA market. Darnold is only ok qb and he wil cost a fortune and has limitations. The rest suck. Need to bottom out and be able to draft a possible franchise qb. What we did with Big Ben.

Their position was 18th due to the fact that they clawed their way to an 8-8 record. Without Minka, who knows where they would’ve landed. I doubt it would’ve been 8-8

When will we know who we are signing between Fields Russ or A Rodg? Is there a date it should happen by?

Hopefully by training camp! This lack of any activity/news is frustrating.

It would have to be well before the draft I would imagine.

In March before free agency starts they might try to start negotiations with QBs.

Yes, I was just being dramatic to emphasize my impatience. :lolol:

I would imagine we'll have to wait for FA. At least for Fields and Russ.

The negotiation period for FAs from another club doesn't begin until March 10 at noon. So no formal conversations could be held with Rodgers until then.

Technically they could meet with Fields before that, since he's still under contract with them until March 12.

Maybe some leaks start coming out beginning of March then although to your point it couldn’t be Rodgers early.

Look to the draft in 26. Save your draft capital. We’ll need it with Cam, TJ, and Minkah getting up there (i would be open to trading them). As far as 2025 is concerned, resign Fields or Wilson to reasonable deal, i would even give Kyle Allen a shot. 25 is just a setup to get that Qb in 26. Its also a chance to fill some holes on D (and maybe a WR). i just wish they were making coaching changes but i guess we have to be patient.

This. A 5-6 win season would do wonders for the Steelers. Maybe get Tomlin convinced to move on to his life's work as an analyst. Get a new HC with a background in offense.... attempt to draft a franchise QB. Cowher's team went 6-10 in 2003... and good things happened after that. And to think if the Ravens didn't want to beat the Steelers so bad in the season finale of '03.... and they did... Bills would have got Ben and Steelers at 7-9 would have ended up with Losman. Thanks to Ravens for 2 Lombardi trophies!

This was also the year Ravens were 1 and done in playoffs with a loss to the Titans. :lolol:
