Preston Smith cut. Adds $13.4 million to salary cap. Nothing against the guy, just $12.4 million too much in salary for what he contributes.

There should be plenty more coming, I hope they purge alot of dead wood. DL, DB's,
should be high on the list. Get people that want to play and HIT!

A weedwhacker is not enough to weed this team out, they need a chainsaw.

we gave a 5th round pick for preston smith and got a backup for part of a season. And now nothing. People will question this trade.

Both he and Williams had an early splash and then fizzled. Smith played a solid role in beating the Ravens and Williams had the winning TD vs Washington. Then pretty much nothing from either.

i wonder if its the player or the scheme. Maybe the opposition figures out how to take guys out of the game. They seemed to do it with TJ..and Highsmith

It ended up being a fine enough trade. It was a late round pick for a partial year rental. With the injuries sustained at OLB last year, he was needed.

If the team had won the division and a p/o game I think more fans would be satisfied, a 7th for a rental is just how you explained. The 5th for Williams and the results seem far more a desperation move. It was a position they seemed to give low priority to, then were left in the dregs when everything else fell through and other available WR went at the deadline. That CAP hit was minimal, but the results were as well.

Talk about coincidences. There are no small coincidences or big coincidences, they're just coincidences. Although Elaine would disagree;)

Anyhow, I just watch the episode of Dexter: Original Sin where Brian is using a chainsaw to slice up that poor women who separated Dex and Brian all those years ago.

They can cut the whole team for all I care. How many play-off games have these guys won. How many Superbowl's. Trade them all and start getting players who play hard and want to win. Don't keep players who <think>they are great but really<suck>. Find winners not losers.

I see Cole Holcomb is still listed on the team, I thought they already cut him.

He has a cap hit of $7.6 million, with a $2 million roster bonus due next month.

When my wife told me that he'd been cut, I actually had to look him up to see who he was. That says how much he contributed in my mind.

May depend on his status after being injured and the related recovery

No way Holcomb sticks around with that cap hit, Roberts has said he wants to return so they will probably re-sign him.

Would there be an injury related cause here? I honestly do not know, there have been times when an injured player is released and it states that it was an agreed upon injury settlement. The wiki page on Cole ends with he started 24 on the pup list, cant even remember if he was atcive this ear.

I see mine isn't the only autocorrect that takes to day-drinking on weekends.

auto correct be damned, the OP to drinking on weekends and is too lazy to edit or give a crap about spelling. For that matter weekday drinking also has that affect. lol

Once you retire weekday drinking ceases to be relevant

I don't think Holcomb's release would be injury related; he returned to practice late last season they just didn't activate him.
