I too like Egbuka. He would be a nice add at 21. The other Buckeye I'd love to see us take at 21 is Treyveon Henderson. Judkins would be a nice round 2 target, and Howard would be another guy I'd love to see. Lots of talent coming from the Buckeyes this year, would love to snag one or three if we can :)

Music to my ears. I like Judkins a bit, but I think Henderson is the exact type of guy we should be looking for.

The FA period will change our draft needs a bit, and things that look like needs now could be met with money spend in March... that could push a much lesser need into the first round where one wouldn't expect it. The DL and run defense are a strength of our defense, but if we figure WR and CB out in FA, then it could potentially find a way into our minds at 21 with Heyward aging and Larry on the final year of his deal. There are a few quality DL in the upper end of the draft too so maybe it ends up making sense, even if it feels like a bit of a luxury pick.

I like Henderson, too, although not in the first. Even as a Buckeyes fan, I think I'd be a little disappointed if the Steelers went that direction in the first round. However, I'd be good with him in the second.

Howard would make for an intriguing pick. I would think he would immediately become our #2 quarterback assuming we get Russ or Fields back.

I wouldn't be at all, though I am of the thought process that he is probably an immediate top 15 back in the league with upside... so that is why I like him at 21. I don't care what pick it takes to get him, I want him lol

I like Howard too. I agree that he'd be our #2 right away. I think he could end up being that guy that is really good with a good team around him, but not a guy that is going to expressly make the rest of the weapons better. Think a Jared Goff or Joe Flacco level. There's obviously a shot he is just an okay player that got carried by the best weapons in college football, but he's worth a mid round shot IMO.

to be honest they could never leave columbus and fill their whole draft needs. WR, DL, RB, CB, OL.

Even though I do not like OSU your statement is true. Much talent on that team.

No way on Howard. He is Will Levis 2.0 with less athleticism and maybe slightly smarter. Career backup territory.

it's not about the school it's about the talent. with these kids moving all over the place anymore, it's like a minor league for draft talent in college. the school means very little because they don't stay. it's like judkins, he was at mississippi longer than at ohio state. howard was at kansas state. talent wise OSU gathered a lot of it at one place.

If Donovan Jackson makes it to Round 3 and we draft him, I will be one of the happiest men on the face of the earth!

That is a win win situation for all parties involved. Hell, I'd trade up for him in Round 3 if it came to that! :herewego:

yea that was way early. jackson may go round 2 and possibly in the 1st late. i know people are soured by drafting offensive linemen but the job isn't finished yet. jackson would fit the bill and also give you a guy that could play two big roles if it came down to it.

it doesn't matter which way we go on the line they will be young. i'm OK with that. move mccorrmick to the left. see which of jones, fautanu, cook can play the left side at tackle. then add nester to that group on the right side. save the money from seumalo and re-sign max scharping for the vet depth. these guys have enough experience to get the job done with good coaching. youth and drive to get better. sure there may be a hiccup or two but they could be together for the next 4-5 years or more. i'm counting on weidl to continue what he does.

free agency for corner, WR and a D-lineman. not to say we can't draft each of these later. we do have a couple of young guys for the DL here already. maybe it's time to see them. lee and slade.

DJ reed. eric rowe. two i would in for the secondary. we get watts back as well.

demarcus robinson or cooper kupp. why not? with wilson and a deep pool of WR's in this draft. i'd extend pickens as well. sign skowonek. with austin this could be a pretty good WR group with a full camp.

D-line. O-line. after egbuke. if the super bowl told us anything. philly has big on both sides. ravens have a big ole o-line. KC's D-line held up until they got tired out from being on the field. KC's o-line was not good enough. i see a lot of them in our line. don't put band-aides on this part of the team fix it and don't stop until you do.

Matt Williamson said that a guy that could turn into a Tuitt or Heyward, it's Derrick Harmon. If he can clean up some stuff and play consistently play in play out.

There are quite a few FA this coming cycle that I hope Steelers
explore. WR,DL, Cb,s are high on my list Then we can scope out
    our draft wishes.

I'm starting to want to double Duck on the DL. Maybe 1st and 3rd rd.

    1. D. Harmon
    3. J. Burch
2nd rd - S. Williams or Higgins maybe. Hairston, Thomas, or Morrison if going cb.

Two things are troubling my mind.

    1. What if Sanders free falls? Picking him at #21 would be a disaster. There's nothing about him that's attractive to me. He would've been the 7th best QB last year, by a mile.

I really like Ward, and pimped him all season. I have no idea how anybody can put Sanders above him. It would be a perfect fit if you want to maintain mediocrity for the next 10 years. I'll puke.

    2. What if they would actually trade up for Sanders if he falls into the teens? Worst possible scenario. I'll puke even harder.

One additional thing that's like splinter in my mind. I have zero problem drafting a developmental QB this year, they should. They need to rebuild the room.

Unfortunately, I know the Steelers. And I believe that if they draft a QB pre round 4, they absolutely will not draft another QB next year. Even though in this situation, you probably need to plant a lot of seeds to get the yield that you're looking for. So, while I would encourage taking a developmental guy with upside, I know that it will cost us any chance at a blue chipper next year. Not that we'll get one anyway. We'll finish 9-8, miss the playoffs, and get the #18th pick.

This is all becoming, ugh. If malaise was a football team...
