So you admit Frazier played well and McCormick played not as well. They had the same coaching as the rest of the line. Perhaps it’s the players and not the coach like yall claim

Because it’s so incredibly foolish to believe that players aren’t a finished product upon leaving college and do in fact get better.

Yea 1 out of 5 players played well, so I can see your assumption from that as not a coaching problem. It is possible that it's both. I have said in other threads that we don't match player strengths to the scheme we try to run.

It seems to me that the previous 3 yrs at the end of the season got alot better. Last season not so much. You keep lining guys up out of their natural position and expecting sub par players to play like they're hofers

Is this “natural position” something in their genes they are innately born with

Yes, some people are just better from the left or right side, and the more they do things from their dominant side the bigger the difference becomes.

How is that for an answer. :)

    From Reddit:
It basically saves the brain processing power. If we did not have a dominant side then the brain would have to spend time deciding which hand to use. It would only be a fraction of a second, but that could mean the difference between catching yourself from a fall or hitting your head on a rock

Speaking of switching sides.... This year I am hoping the Steelers move Broderick Jones back to his natural side at LT, and leave him there no matter what. It is time to throw Broderick in the deep end of the pool at LT and let him sink or swim.

Did you believe the theory on Justin Fields foot?

    https://sports.yahoo.com/justin-fields-reverts-natural-footwork-003607817.html
Justin Fields reverts to natural footwork with Steelers, reversing Bears' changes originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

When Justin Fields first arrived in Chicago in 2021, he was used to placing his right foot forward in the shotgun formation, flipping it back upon receiving the ball to get ready to throw.

In Year 2, Luke Getsy and the Bears taught him to place his left foot forward. This was similar to how Aaron Rodgers operated in the pocket in Green Bay, easing the dropback process.

But at Steelers OTAs this offseason, it's evident Fields has reverted to his old footwork, scrapping the Bears' changes.

No Brice that theory doesn’t work.

Only about 10% of the population is left handed and apparently the percentage of left handed NFL players is significantly less than that

For example in 2023 75 different players took a snap at quarterback and only one is left handed

This “natural position” claim is nothing more than another reason for fans to complain about something

Used to have a Sunday natural position with a beer in one hand and chicken wing in the other. I was good and could switch sides.:smiley1::cool:

Some people are ambidextrous in that regard and I believe it is a gift from god based on something good you did in a previous life

To NOT move on from a terrible OL coach who makes maybe $500 K when you're a Billion $$ business tells me the org is NOT serious about winning

It's either that or Tomlin wants his substandard coaches around to continue to be the "smartest" guy in the room....

If you're the smartest guy in the room, you are in the wrong room, typically

    Just flaccid

Kind of like being right or left handed,... Most people have a preference and are better at doing it with that preference. Some people can do it either way with the same skill. And some people are just a klutz.

Wish Rooney had one functioning brain cell left and chose to ride out the Tomlin contract last year. Sigh. Stupidity in ownership isn't going away or easiliy cured. We might as well get used to sucking for a while.

Exactly, just like in baseball. Some guys can be switch hitters, and some guys would look like a complete fool trying to bat from the wrong side.

In 2024 only 9.4% of MLB players were switch hitters.

And this exactly proves what I stated regarding football

You are just randomly throwing things out which have no rational application regarding left and right in football
