Jameis Winston keeps both teams in the game. He puts up lots of yards and TD's but also throws a ton of picks.

Players will throw things out there when they're looking for a job, hard pass on Jameis.

24 NFL quarterbacks threw eight interceptions or more in the 2024 season. Jameis Winston is one of eight quarterbacks that threw 12 interceptions. Only three quarterbacks threw more than 12. Of those 24 quarterbacks, only three had a lower rating than Jameis Winston (80.6). Anthony Richardson had a 61.6, Mason Rudolph had an 80.1 and Mac Jones had an 80.5.

Jameis Winston threw 296 pass attempts in 2024. He had a 61.2% completion. For quarterbacks that had more than 100 pass attempts, there's only three that had a worse completion percentage than Winston. Those three were Bryce Young, Cooper Rush and Trevor Lawrence. All of them were within half a percent below him. So he's at the bottom of the league there.

You can pick apart a lot of his statistics. He is bottom of the barrel in 2024 in pretty much all of them. If we're going to bring in another 'veteran', I do hope that it's somebody with a slightly better record than that.

Well if we are keeping Fields we don't have to worry about this. Rooney said he wants QB's that are similar.

    No to Winston
I doubt Fields resigns here. He's going to have options and likely assured to be QB1 from the outset SOMEWHERE. I think too many assume we can just choose between Fields and Wilson. I am with most, don't bring back Wilson, he just isn't good enough and no upside. Fields has upside, but currently just so-so as far as NFL QBs go, but I feel pretty confident he'll sign elsewhere.

I am in the tiny minority, but I'd like to get Aaron Rodgers (unless some upside young QB is on the trade market) and then have GM FOCUS on drafting a QB, maybe not round 1, but I'd love to get a Jaxson Dart or some "competent" QB later in draft that maybe lacks the upside (or appearance of upside), the Brock Purdy/Tom Brady type. Not the best athlete, limited stats due to maybe a good QB on a running college team or a team with a great defense that just played too conservative. I am sure a couple are out there. Draft one (or two) of those in rounds 4 and 7 maybe.

I think its MOSTLY safe to say, given this draft lacks top QB talent, or at least surefire talent, that the Steelers probably won't have a "franchise" QB starting this fall, but they can take a chance on a lesser rated talent in draft and find the best combination of QB/athlete that won't break the bank.

DO NOT OVERPAY for mediocrity and get us in a cap crunch that might limit us signing a good DL/WR/CB that we might desperately need.

That defense of the Eagles was outstanding. Were you watching that MR..The Eagles only rushed 4 guys and were destroying the Chiefs --Maybe we need to go to 4-3 defense now. It was total destruction. I would get rid of every player we have to have dominant --attacking players like that. What DO YOU THINK-- Steeler FANS---.WE NEED SOMETHING TO CHANGE --THAT SHOULD BE OUR defense--attack and destroy teams.

I've been saying Steelers should switch to a 4-3 since losing SBXLV. It's the best D to combat modern NFL QBs like Brady, Rodgers, Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, etc. The 3-4 is a relic and it's too vulnerable unless you have generational players in their primes like Von Miller or Troy Polamalu to make it excel.
