"they just took the money that I made in the NFL, and they didn’t make the money mines no more,”"

That quote about sums him up. The guy can't even talk.

Sad, you will see him boxing Ochocinco soon.
And no one is to blame but himself. Instead of partying every week, sit at home 1 day and go over your finances.

Nobody took his money, how players trust agents and family with their money is insane.

It's not sad. How can you feel for a guy that lived a wonderful life ... cheating and not paying debts. Splurged on any and everything but his kids. I used to think that it started from that hit from burflict but Clark said it was way before that.

If I had that much money in my 20s, I probably would have lost it all too. The human mind is not fully mature until around age 30. Mindset and priorities are totally different for a young adult.

Some never mature. As Buffett said, "I'm growing older but not up"!

Depends on the individual. I have an older brother that drove it in my head the importance of saving and handling your finances.

I had a financial advisor and investing my money in my 20’s.

can't argue that, but upbringing, surroundings, and availing and submitting yourself to the discipline needed in life comes into this as well. Someone mentioned Chad Johnson above, but I heard him state last year that he was actually a frugal guy. I googled this (first thing that came up, but fits the narrative).

Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Saved 83% of his NFL Salary by Buying Fake Jewelry and Sleeping in the Stadium — Here Are 5 Simple Ways to Preserve your Wealth at an All-Star Level | Moneywise

Was just about to say the same thing. Terribly sad how someone could not even care just to have everything right now. I used to pass Mike Webster’s house everyday on my way to High school. He ended up losing everything after his brain injuries and ended up living under a bridge. These are not the same people. I had more respect for Webster than I ever could for AB. Antonio Brown was just really stupid with his money and his family and friends all ripped him off.

I would like to think that I couldn’t be that foolish but couldn’t guarantee that I wouldn’t have been. I would probably feel invincible at that point in life.

I think AB genuinely has a manic disorder of some sort. I have an extended family member with something similar, and crazy profligate spending and highly erratic behaviour often accompany that type of illness.

AB and his many kids should have been set up for life.

He has a lot of issues BUT still kinda sad to read. Too many concussions probably has blurred his vision and speech.

Wrong Buffett. Jimmy is the correct Buffett. Sadly, Jimmy doesn't have to worry about money anymore. He passed away in '23.

Don’t be fooled. He’s probably sitting on more money than a bunch of us combined. He’s just looking for protection from creditors
