kupps stat are not as washed up as many seem to think. added to pickens this would be fine. kupp wouldn't be here to be the #1 but the 1b. he would make 1a better and 2 and 3.

The issue with Kupp is health and cost. Productivity-wise, he's averaged a stat line of 67/753/6 and 11 games played over the past three seasons. That translates to a 104/1164/9 line over 17 games, but he hasn't played in more than 12 over that span - and he can't make the other receivers better from the sidelines.

Could he still be productive? Sure. But given that his current price tag is draft capital + $20M, he's a very high-risk acquisition.

Egbuka has played more slot than outside WR in college, adding Egbuka and getting rid of Pickens doesn't fix your WR room.

the rams may eat part of it. We paid dj 18 mil. a couple of years ago with zero tds.

Maybe, but I don't know that they'd be trying to trade him immediately if they were going to eat any of the money - he's due a $7.5M roster bonus as of March 17. Besides, if they eat some money they're going to want some compensation on the draft pick.

The point on DJ doesn't really have any bearing here. I'm not saying Kupp doesn't have some productivity left, just that his recent injury history isn't good and he'll be 32 next year. Leverage that against the cost to get him and it's a higher risk than it was to have DJ and his $7.6M cap hit in 2022.

What concerns me with Kupp besides an extensive injury history is why did he disappear from the game plan the last 5 or 6 games.

That doesn’t explain it. They coexisted and got their targets prior to that.

they actually had pretty similar stats. Puca had 3 tds and 1 rushing. Kupp had 6 and 1. If the rams eat that 7.5 mil. bonus due him, he would be around 11 mil. this year and under 20 next. That really isn't bad. He doesn't turn 32 until June.

    Last 4 games

    3 targets 0 catches
    3 targets 3 catches 24 yards
    3 targets 1 catch 29 yards
    1 target 1 catch 29 yards
    O TDs over that span

They got him involved in the playoff game but he was non existent those 4 games prior.

I’m not saying they shouldn’t go after him for the right price but there is reason to be concerned between his dip in production and his injury history, missing 18 games in the last 3 seasons. Buyer beware.

I had this posted in another thread, but it has a lot of bearing on this thread too. So I'm reposting it here.

I think that Kuup will be too expensive for the Steelers. He's had some very good seasons in the past, but the recent few have been average coupled with injuries. He has some pretty big payday years coming. So if the Rams don't eat that cost or at least a chunk of it, I don't see how the Steelers are going to want to pay that money too.

2025 will be his 9th year in the NFL. He's injured his ankle four times in the last 3 years (missed games) with a couple of those being high ankle sprains.

His incredible season was in 2021. The 3 years following that are average for a good receiver. I don't see him as being our number one for sure. He was number 45 for receiving yards in 2024.

Of the 44 players above him, these are the ones that are aged 31 or higher (Kupp is 31): George kittle 31, Mike Evans 31, Devonta Adams 32, Travis Kelce 35, and Zach ertz 34.

That is only five receivers/TEs that are the same age or older than Cooper Kupp in the top 45 receivers for yards in 2024. There were two or three at age 30. The vast majority were in the 23 to 25 range.

Based on age, injuries, and performance over the last couple years, will Kupp be no more than a number 3 receiver on a new team? Time gets us all. How much money is a number three receiver worth?

I do think that he would bring value to the team, I just have some doubts about the price tag.

I’m going to be honest, I’d rather trade for Tyreek Hill than Cooper Kupp. I like the stylistic fit better. Kupp is an oft injured possession receiver at this point. Hill can still break the game open deep, and some serious “over the top” help would be needed with him and GP on the field.

I think we can do better than Kupp at WR this offseason.

After watching the video of Tyreek Hill getting pulled over by the Miami Police or whichever police department it was down there, I can see a real diva mentality with him. The guy has had an incredible career and definitely has some skills, but would we just be putting another problem child into a locker room that doesn't need that?
