Not surprising at all, and it won't take long before someone else is the highest paid. I don't think anyone ever believed Flacco was the best in the league, it just so happened he won a SB, was the SB MVP and had an amazing post-season at the same time as his contract expired. Those things are going to result in a massive contract.

Romo just signed a 6 year extension worth $108MM and his guaranteed money is more than Falcco's. Jerry Jones is a lunatic.

I hear ya, Fontana... as if he wasn`t expensive enough already...
I`m not sure, but doesn`t he only have 2 or 3 years left under contract with us?
Not sure after this most recent re-structure, but I think that was about what his contract had left at the end of last year.
Pretty sure he was gonna be less than 35 yrs old when it expired, and he just turned thirty last year.
Also, I couldn`t help but notice a line in that article, that said the Clowns would take just about any draft pick, for McCoy...
I know we just signed Gradkowski, but I don`t think it would be a waste of a 4th, or 3d round pick, if we could bring McCoy into camp as a 3d backup.. Possibly 2nd. I`m not all that wild about Gradkowski, other than he is a proven vet. Not proven to be very good, tho...
And I think McCoy has a lot of upside.
He is still quite young, and I don`t think he really got a fair shake, to see what he could become, with the Stains...
Maybe we got rid of Harrisson, so there would be no hard feelings if we brought in Colt?(Just kidding.... Joking around with that comment. If I don`t say it outright, it could be perceived on the board, as if I was serious about that... LOL)
    GO STEELERS!!!

Bens not going to command a contract like these guys just signed, he'll be on the wrong side of his career by the time they give him a new contract. And if that's what he wants, better start saying your goodbyes now.

Yup. The only way Ben will get big money is if he had a year like Flacco did when it comes time to negotiate.

O.K., So let me ask the question again...
When Is Ben`s contract over?(after the latest re-structure).
If it is within the next 4 or 5 years, when do we look at replacing him?
This question has gotten a lot of play on this board, mostly with the answer being...
We will have to see when he retires, and hope we get lucky that there is a stud qb, in the draft, when he is gone.
Or, after he is gone, we will probably do so bad, that we have a high enough draft pick to replace him... IF there is anyone worth drafting that year, to replace him...
So, does anyone think he is gonna sign another new contract, with us, or anyone else, when his current contract is up?
    I have no idea.
I would hate to see him go elsewhere at 35 yrs old, and win a superbowl for another team, but, I think he is capable of doing just that.
I don`t wanna see us "overpay" for him, but as the article says... QB`s (of his caliber) are a valuable commodity, and need to be paid accordingly.
Personally, I would like to see him retire with us, at about 35-40 yrs old, with another 2 or 3 Superbowl rings...
I`m not sure the stars will align that way, given the punishment his body has taken, and the fact that he probably doesn`t hold the Rooney`s in as high of a regard, as I think he should...
And I have no idea what kind of players they are gonna surround him with, in the future.
It`s hard for me to imagine him having a better team around him, than he already has had.
So, when this contract is up?
    What then?
    Next qb up?
Took us awhile to find a decent one last time.
I know there are no easy answers, and it might be a bit soon, to try to "groom" a replacement, but if Colt wouldn`t mind being a backup, for 3 more seasons, till we can`t pay Ben, and all he costs us is a 4th or 3d round draft pick... I`m all for that.

Romo's contract just drop kicked the equilibrium of the universe. Now Rodgers is going to need a dump truck of cash to set things right.:lolol:

2015 is the last year of Ben's current contract. The recent restructuring didn't change the length of his contract, it just converted a portion of his base salary into a cash bonus to free up cap space for this year.

Look for his contract to get extended next year. Assuming his career isn't ended early by a catastrophic injury, I believe his replacement is likely still in high school.

I would be interested in how much money Ben has earned up to this point
with the PGH Steelers? I think the Steelers may have fixed Ben up this last restructure.(Signing bonus money)
I don't think there will be any more big money going to #7

Including this year, it's in the ballpark of $75,000,000 between salary, signing bonuses, and other bonuses.
