Jalen Hurts = Russell Wilson, but with much better OL, RB and WRs.

    Their QB style is identical.

I'm not going to talk smack. Vols have lost 2 in a row and have a really tough stretch ahead. Hate losing at home, especially to the likes of those inbred KY bumpkins.

But some fans on here want to make the excuse for Watt and blame the scheme.

It was very obvious he was playing injured. He knows we only lose without him, and he wanted to be there for the playoff game this year (he got injured the last regular season game of the year last year).

The scheme definitely hurt us from stopping the run. It isn't why any one player didn't have a stat, but it was definitely a bad plan that got exploited immediately.

If Watt was healthy enough to play, then you can't use injury as an excuse to go three straight games with no stats .

Idk man. As a fanbase we made nothing but excuses for Najee Harris sucking for like 75% of his starts over the course of 4 years, but our best player gets hurt and rushes back to try to help the team and we spend the whole offseason dogging him because he didn't play his best? I think its a bit lame. Like, we get it. TJ didn't have a good game. Maybe he should have sat out, idk. I'm not the team doctor, nor am I TJ, so I don't know how he felt/how hurt he was. But there were a lot of reasons for yet another playoff blowout. I don't think signaling out our best player who was playing through injury is the best use of our anger towards the loss.

That's a dumb comparison an RB is dependent on the OL, this isn't the first time Watt was invisible in the playoffs. I bet Najee would've been able to convert that 4th and 1 against the Bengals unlike the overrated Jaylen Warren .

My wife was on the phone talking to her friend about who knows what and held up her hand with her thumb and forefinger about a couple of inches apart

She said how big is this

I yelled back loud enough for her friend to hear “I’ve been telling you for years that is 13 inches”

The comparison is what it is. Pass rushers can be dependent on the DL eating up blockers, or helping on stunts. They can also be dependent on the secondary too because if the WR's are covered, the QB holds the ball just a touch longer and can help get there for a sack. There's no position in a team game that isn't dependent on others.

Its human nature to defend the players we like and criticize the ones we don't care as much about (this goes for coaches too). Based on our conversation history, you are a Najee fan. Which is cool, you do you. But you're willing to base his struggles as the fault of the OC, or the OL, etc.... and opt not to criticize his flaws as a player. In this instance you're zeroing in on Watt having a bad game in Baltimore. Why does he not get the same benefit of the doubt? Why is TJ Watt a "disappearing act" and Najee a "good player who's faults are because of his teammates"?.

No one is making an excuse for TJ. Everyone that watched the game could tell he didn't play like his normal self. He didn't play well. I simply pointed out an injury (and the fact that he wasn't his normal self for pretty much the entirety of the season post injury) as a possible reason to explain a noticeable dip in play/production.

It's not just the playoff game against Baltimore Watt had no stats in the last three games IIRC.

Come on now. I counted 3 tackles on the non ball carrier in the playoff loss. That counts for something on PFF, no?

My point exactly... When did he start having no impact in games? Before injury when he was a frontrunner for NFL MVP? Or after the injury when his production completely dried up?

He exited the Philly game injured with 2 sacks, a FF, 1 TFL, 5 solo tackles (7 combined), he finished post injury with 0 sacks, 0 FF, 1 TFL, 2 solo tackles (7 combined) in 4 games.... I wonder what happened to cause such a significant drop in production? Very interesting conundrum.

Really a dumb comparison? We’ll last I checked your OL depends to a point on the d line to take up blocks so the don’t get doubled teamed and then chipped by the rb. The way Najee tiptoes to the line I have seen him got get a yard way to many times to even count. That’s his whole problem is that he thinks he is Levon Bell when he should have been Derick Henry with his size. Lastly if I am playing Pittsburgh in a playoff game I bet the one person I make sure doesn’t wreck my game plan is TJ. Make someone else prove they can then I will adjust my line away from the TJ double teams. Last I checked the whole damn team has sucked in the playoffs not just one person.

TJ was clearly playing injured, he has earned some slack, Harrison has not.

Defending Harris while dumping on TJ is nasty work.

Harris career stats on 4th & 1-3 yards: 8 attempts for 12 yards, 1 first down.
