Should the Steelers draft a young qb like Jaxson Dart?

I think he could be a steal in the second round or so. What do you guys think? Should we stick with Fields and Russ and have the potential to get the number 1 pick, Arch? lol

No on spending a second rounder on a QB. But I think someone like Howard or Leonard in the fourth/fifth would be a steal

Art 2 said that the plan was to bring back either Wilson or Fields but not both and draft a QB.

Tom Arth has the skill set to coach a young QB. Wilson’s regression was most likely due to his stubbornness and not Arth’s coaching. Slowik is also available. Bring him in as passing game specialist.

I doubt Dart will last until the Steelers second round pick, Howard could be an option in the mid rounds.

Rounds 4-7... yes on QB. Steelers have too many damn holes everywhere to waste a pick on a QB in early rounds. The OL, DL and secondary are all sub par and need starters and depth. Hopefully free agency can help.

I'd go DT and WR/CB in round 1&2. Get a CB/WR in round 3.... and then maybe QB in round 4.

Need to acquire free agents on the OL to replace LT, RT and LG. Don't trust Fautanu or Jones at OT.

Also grab the best RB available in rounds 4-7.

My plan is the best plan.

I said this i the draft thread. Do you trust the current staff to develop a young qb?

Yeah, keep building the team. Fields for 25 is fine. The last two drafts have been good so hopefully they have another one. Get the lines better, add WR, CB and elsewhere. If Dart is there later than expected maybe grab him. If they really like Howard and he's there in the 4th grab him. There is some FA money to spend, too. If they're in this position next year, which they will be, they can think about an aggressive move up to get the 1st rd QB they want.

Dunbar yes his contract is up. Meyer is signed through the 2025 season unfortunately.

Dart has a solid resume. I would be in favor in drafting him in the 2nd. 1st pick needs to be a receiver. I believe that Pickens is done here after the season if not traded.

I agree that Jones is now a crap shoot moving to the left side. But Fautanu hasn't played a meaningful snap yet and I feel he will be fine in 25.

I don’t see Howard lasting to rd 4, I think people are sleeping on him. He has the mental makeup and prototypical size you want in a QB. He can read defenses, can make every thrown and has that athletic ability to make defenses weary of him running. To me he is the whole package youd want at QB.

I don't question Fautanu's ability at OT.... I question his availability. He had injury issues in college.

Disagree on Dart. If he's there in the 4th... then Steelers should grab him. Otherwise, no. Steelers aren't gonna be able to develop a QB under Tomlin, so there's no point in wasting early draft picks on QB.

Whisenhunt and Arians did a great job developing Ben. I think Arthur Smith could do the same for a new QB, but Tomlin will screw it up like he did with Pickett, Rudolph, Dobbs, etc.

No on either Dart or Howard. Just more of the same overhyped mid-level guys that we see every year that get over drafted because teams are desperate.

Howard will be gone before the 3rd round is over. It wouldn't surprise me if a team reach for him in the 1st.

I want Jalen Milroe...mainly because on I believe Madden 2022, I downloaded custom draft classes and drafted him in the 2nd round. Guy was an absolute baller, so clearly that must mean he will be in real life... :hehehe:

How can you call drafting a qb a waste? They should've drafted one again before Ben retired.
Now we are stuck with over the hill or praying a washed out young qb will stick.

I feel anything before the third round for Howard might be a reach.

Dobbs and Pickett played much better in other systems. Rudolph ended up being the best QB we had in 2023.
