Nothing lower than a Ben hating Steeler "fan", the absolute lowest of the low, little more than vermin IMO.

I’ve never seen a Ben hating Steeler fan certainly not on this board

I have seen a lot of posters who recognize the good with the bad

I am not sure where I saw the Ben hating?

Ben did hang on too long. Most fans would agree he wasn’t the same after the elbow. That was in addition to his getting older.

You can simultaneously be a fan of Ben and the Steelers, while also acknowledging some of Ben’s short comings.

You'll never see a better Steelers QB, so hang on to that thought...you must be loving this Ben-less era...

And soon some forget and how little they appreciate what he gave us...

Fair point, which emphasizes mine that over this playoff drought, they haven’t had the depth necessary to win.

    I saw Bradshaw

    He was better

Maybe you aren’t old enough to have watched him

I’m guessing American football games weren’t shown yet in your neck of the woods in the 70’s

I think when they were both at their peak Bradshaw was better. However it took him a lot of years to reach that peak and then injuries curtailed his career. Ben was good right from the start and kept his job for almost 2 decades. So I call it a wash.

A lot of exaggeration here. What makes you think I am happy with the current state of the Steelers?

Ben was a franchise QB, had a great career, and will find himself in the HOF.

The fact that you hold Ben in such high regard, being unable to acknowledge any of his shortcomings, just makes you a homer.

Not really, Ben could still play. Wilson is totally washed. Sorry for your ingratitude to a legend, and good luck ever seeing a better QB.

I noticed your crew is mostly missing these days. Explains why you've doubled and tripled your efforts in spewing gibberish.

I don't think there's anything more pointless for Steelers fans than arguing about Bradshaw vs Roethlisberger. Bradshaw was a better playoff QB. Fact. Roethlisberger was slightly better in the regular season and had better stats. Fact. Both QBs played in different eras. Apples and Oranges. Both QBs brought home the hardware (Lombardi trophies) to Steelers franchise. Fact.

Echolalia is the term we use to describe when children repeat what we say instead of coming up with their own utterances. This is a normal stage of language development for one- and two-year-olds.

In his penultimate season Ben threw the second most TD passes of his career in a season. Done he was not. The ridiculously inefficient short passing game they insisted on running (lowest ypa of Ben's career were his last two years) made him look worse than he was.

Russ was a waste of time this year. Even if he played well this season we did not have the talent to go all the way. He is not the player he once was and is going to be 37 this season. I had no issue bringing him in this season considering what he cost but handing him the starting job was an absolute mistake; partially because he was so bad he was told to take a hike by two teams and partially because of his age. A mistake they made with Trubisky 2 years prior and were apparently happy to repeat.

Lots of complaints about Wilson and how he never throws over the middle. Hurts does the same thing, throws outside the numbers. Only difference is Eagles have a "real" OL. Eagles are gonna win with Hurts only throwing to WRs outside the numbers.

    This.

On the subject of the Steelers FO isn't serious about replacing him, I don't think effort should be questioned here. Methodology, development and structure however?! That is where I wholeheartedly agree.

No one is saying nabbing a Franchise Signal Caller is easy. However, teams need to put in the effort to try much harder than the last time. Pittsburgh's FO has done nothing but place stop gap options and hoping for the best. What needs a major overhaul is the team's ability to scout these QBs, identify which QBs best fit the system that the Steelers are trying to run Offensively, have a plan of development in place when they identify said QB and ensure structure is there for when the QB does get drafted. The biggest takeaway though is to try as hard as one possibly can.

With Pickett they did but the plan to develop Pickett, along with the methodology of doing so, was comically fumbled from the beginning. Matt Canada had no business being an OC yet both Tomlin and AR II elected to keep him anyways; resulting in setting back the Franchise by possibly years and years. This isn't accounting for the headcase known as George Pickens and a player I did not like whatsoever in DeMarvin Leal; a player whom I have been correct about since he arrived minus the injury bug he has had.

Long story short?! Whatever level of desire the Steelers had when they sought to not only acquire Big Ben but develop him is what is severely missing within the FO. As far as I see it, both Omar and Andy get a pass from me for both inherited Pickett and the clown show of a mess soon thereafter. Now, Omar can be at fault for not nabbing a WR more aggressively as he should. That said, who here thought that a Third Round WR in Roman Wilson, one who had a relatively clean bill of health, would be knocked out for his Rookie Season?! Getting back to the point?!

LET OMAR AND ANDY COOK DAMMIT!!

Enough of this risk adverse nonsense!

Jalen Hurts also has a Top 5 WR Corps, a Top 5 TE Group and as you mentioned, arguably the best Offensive Line in all of football. It also helps that Philadelphia's Staff far exceeds Pittsburgh in both quality and quantity. Add in an Owner who isn't afraid to take risks and congratulations; the Philadelphia Eagles have successfully moved on from an NFL Coaching Legend in Andy Reid to a Coach that has reached two Super Bowls in his first four seasons in Nick Sirianni.

As you are indirectly implying; Franchises need to take risks and supply those risks with as much talent as possible to win. Philly has done that with Jalen and the results have been nothing short of great.
