DT, CB, WR, OL and in no particular order. Bring in 3 ex players in some kinda coaching positions (H.Ward, Deebo, C.Batch/Leftwich and change Shazier to LB coach) since they dont want to put up the big bucks for great asst coaches. Have at me ...

QB: bring back Fields and draft a 3rd day QB

RB: re-sign Warren, draft one of the OSU backs in the 2nd or 3rd

WR: bring in a FA, trade Pickens and draft a WR in one of the first 3 rounds, maybe double dip on day 3.

OL: Moore dips, I can see then drafting a 4th round G as a replacement for Seamalu with a similar plan to McCormick... probably could draft a day 3 T and groom to be the swing T.

DL: Let Loudermilk go, cut Ogunjobi, draft a DT in the top 3 rounds, preferably a NG type.

Edge: cut Preston Smith and sign a cheap edge or draft a day 3 edge.

ILB: re-sign Elandon Roberts and cut Cole Holcomb.

CB: re-sign Donte Jackson, draft or sign a slot CB and sign a CB to compete with Jackson, let Sutton go his own path.

    S: re-sign Kazee

My main reason to keep Roberts, Kazee and Jackson is to keep as much continuity in the lineup as possible. The more personal turnover that happens, the more issues with chemistry and communication we'll see. If there's no plans for a rebuild, then I see continuity as the best path forward for the defense. I'd rather them spend the cap space on the offense as opposed to players come and go, like a turnstile.

Keep Roberts but Kazee and Jackson can go.

The thing about this is, letting Kazee and Jackson go essentially equates to 3 new starters in the secondary alone, because of how much pt Kazee gets and Austin's stupid infatuation with 3 safety sets. I, personally, want a massive overhaul, but since that's likely not happening I see continuity as the solution. I do consider it an awful solution nonetheless.

I like your thinking, CB taken at either rd1 or 2. Keep Jackson and Kazee sign Mike Hilton to play slot. Cut or trade all the other dead wood
in the secondary. Worthless if they don't want to hit or can't stay on field. Let Kazee and Jackson leave in 2026. As far as your other thread
I like it, depending on what we can muster for GP? RB is maybe a little high, we found Warren as an UDFA maybe another find out there? with our OL and OL coach
not really up to par late round find or FA signing may have to be found. NT needed.

I am not convinced that the current Steeler front office is concerned about their mediocrity for the past several years. Until there is a big change in the front office mentality, the team will continue to reflect the ownership culture on the field. What a shame. The Steeler tradition has died.

A highly skilled WR isn't going to want to come here. Our offence is too inept. The targets just won't be there for 2 WR's, 2 TE's (although used inconsistently) and a RB.

You’re referring to 12 personnel which is one running back and two tight ends. The Steelers were first in the league in the usage of 13 personnel and 11th in the league in usage of 12 personnel. The two combined account for almost 50% of our offensive snaps. As for your claims of a highly skilled wr not wanting to come here Adams has already said he would love to play here. Queue the masses claiming that’s just because blah blah blah

And do what with the 3rd Day QB that you couldn’t do the same with a FA

Why not use the pick on a player who might possibly contribute

They're openly embracing that mediocrity and are happily signing on for more of it. You are right this isn't The Steelers any more. It is Al Davis Raiders 2.0.

Did you mean to put “…we already have the best one” in green font? I agree we should bring him in as an offensive assistant to replace Mike Sullivan. This would be similar to the Flores & Austin scenario we had a few years ago. I doubt it will happen as he will be a hot commodity to be OC for teams like the Raiders, Lions, Jaguars… who have new HC.

We'll see what happens. Adams might want to come here because he'll be the top dog easily, but there's going to be a lot of highly skilled #2 guys that won't want to because there's not exactly a lot of targets to go around. Our offence is horrible. It's a WR grave yard.

You can go either way I guess. The average 4th/5th Rd guy is a depth piece placed in a ST role and 7th rd guys typically end up on the practice squad. I don't think it matters much if we grab a 4th round guy at QB or CB. At least with a QB, you have him under control for four years instead of a two-to-three year guy that will cost $$$ that could've been used elsewhere.

Oh so now it’s #2 guys that don’t want to come here. Move the goalposts much?

I haven’t gotten caught up on too many individual prospects yet, but I think DT, CB and WR are top candidates for early draft selections or premium free agent signings.

At DT I don’t think a pure Two-gap NT is worth a 1st round pick given how often we’ll be in sub packages, but a hybrid 1/2 gap type of player (think Hargrave) who is primarily a penetrator, but can still do a credible job of holding up to a double team, would be valuable. At WR I actually think we need to sign a solid vet in addition to adding a rookie. We need an injection of savvy and proven production at that position.

I’d also like to resign Daniels (if he passes a medical assessment), release Semualo and move McCormick to the left side where he played his college career. I am absolutely seeing a decline in Semualo. Father Time is winning that 1:1 battle and we should get ahead of the situation if we can. Daniels is a solid RG.

I actually thought of bringing back Daniels myself. The guy is only 27 and can be a guy here for the next 5-7 years. He's young enough to build around and old enough to be a leader. I'd prefer to keep him and let Seamalu go as well.

I wasn't trying to move anything. I was talking about a high end #2 WR all along. I doubt very much they're going to bring in a true #1 guy, not with Pickens here, unless they are already considering not extending him.

But hey, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe we will get a high end WR, whether it's a #1 or #2. I hope I am wrong. Our offence isn't exactly inviting to WR's though.

grant from michigan. he could be a guy to play NT and in our 2 down lineman sets.

daniels will bring the worry of is he healthy plus cost a good bit. that why i'd cut seumalo and save that cash, draft donovan jackson that was considered one of the best guards coming out and he can play the money spot if a need arose. i'd also bring scharping back as the new herbig player.

those 3 moves would upgrade the O-line and DL with 2 really good young players plus a vet with starting experience. this could be easily done.

Overall, I like what the idea you posted here. I think the most important thing once they draft their franchise QB is putting the guy in the best position to succeed. And it first starts up front with his protection and having quality weapons for him to throw to. Which is kinda why I favor continuity in the secondary and kicking that need down the road a season or two. Therefore, I think getting stronger on the OL/DL/WR sets this team up short and long term success.
