Well as usual you are wrong. He said he was disappointed about the lack of playoff success but that we are above the median. As if being above the worst teams is good enough. They make 0 changes year over year. I’m sure you’re thinking but hey next year things will be different!

He says the reality is that "we outperform the NFL mean at a greater rate". So basically, being above average at a better rate than other teams is the standard. lol

Also, the comparison to boxing is just stupid... winning the first 10 rounds, and then getting knocked out in the 11th round makes the first 10 irrelevent.

The statement about outperforming the NFL mean is factual, and is undeniably a positive stat. However, in his statement it really comes across as justification for the approach. The way that I view it, management likely believes that playing it safe and ensuring that the team is competitive for a playoff spot every year maximizes the odds of breaking through and having that big season at some point. The problem is that we have plenty of evidence that the conservative approach of only tweaking the status quo every year is not working when January rolls around. It consistently leaves the team at around the 12th - 15th best team in the leagu and an early offseason. Sometimes you need to shake things up and embrace change.

Jim can shove the run, run, pass, punt, play defense and hope for splash plays mentality right up his azz.

I think most of us would take a step back in terms of regular season record if it meant hope for the future with better draft assets and a potential QB. There is no hope now just the same crap every season. Let me guess next year we sign Fields or Wilson get 9/10 wins and either barely miss the playoffs or get in as a 6/7 seed and beat by 20 in a playoff game that’s over by halftime. Safest bet in sports. I honestly think the most important thing to this franchise including Tomlin is this non losing season streak even when they know the conservative play it safe approach will never result in postseason success.

agreed. getting knocked out but looking good doing it creates the same results. as long as people keep coming to see you getting knocked out the management still gets paid.
