Why keep firing the wrong people ?

Latest talk Wilson is gone,who wanted him? Canada gone ,thankfully , who wanted him ?Kenny gone , who wanted him and on and on and on and now Fields mr. happy feet who will probably , if not coached right , be gone . How come the person responsible for these failures keeps getting extended while the fans clearly see the problem . Feel free to add other failures like mitch , the list seems endless as does the misery.

Who has been fired? 9 Days after finishing the season on a 5 game losing streak, not a single coach has been fired. WTF???????

Is this the Rooney way? Is this the Tomlin way?

Their contracts don’t expire until March 12

And they won’t get fired

Their contracts just will not be renewed

 

I am wanting people like Austin, Meyers, and Azzanni FIRED. Not allowed to coach until their contracts expire in MARCH of 2026.

Season ending 5-Game losing streak; I can't think of a worse WR room, or O-Line room in the NFL last year.

 

That's far too late to be looking for replacements. You'd want your staff in place before the combines especially coordinators.

 

Yea, Azzani didn't have much to work with and seemed to help improve CAIII's game. The passing tree needs fixed, big time and to do that is adding a pass game coordinator. And if anyone deserves to be gone, it's Mike Sullivan.

 

Because George Pickens play on the field and problems off the field became worse as the season went on. If all the stories are to be believed about Pickens being late for games and practices and this behavior being allowed by the Position coach this year, you have to think Azzanni either allowed it to happen, or just turned a blind eye to his players running wild. I don't remember these crazy stories about George Pickens in 2023.

And the fact that Azzanni was unable to bring Mike Williams into the game plan showed his incompetence in bringing players up to speed with their new team.

And don't even get me started with Roman Wilson's development. How many games did we wonder why a healthy Roman Wilson was sitting on the inactive list; still trying to learn the offense?

 

A number of counterpoints:


1.) Pickens has been, and continues to be, a problem for not just Azzanni but also the entire team. Zach was indeed brought on to be a disciplinarian but that doesn't mean Pickens was/is going to change automatically overnight. That isn't to let Zach off the hook as he also does take some responsibility for what happened with Pickens but remember, Pickens has to mature himself by himself. Zach wasn't brought here to be a babysitter. Pickens needs to grow up or leave.


2.) Mike Williams wasn't 100% a Zach Azzanni decision. That decision befalls on the likes of Tomlin, Khan and AR II. For that matter, his lack of usage also befalls on the likes of both Arthur Smith and Mike Tomlin. Why trade for a player that would only play 171 total snaps is beyond me. I agree with you that the Mike Williams trade yielded little to nothing but that decision has nothing to do with Zach. Zach's role is to instruct and teach the finer points of the position.


3.) Roman Wilson was hurt for a long stretch of the season. Again, that isn't on Zach for injuries happen to all players. In addition, it is quite difficult for any rookie, regardless of position, to make any impact should they be out for an extended period of time in the manner that Roman Wilson was. Now, in the one game that Roman did play in against Las Vegas, one could tell he still had some ways to go. Roman's lack of practice has far more to do with his injury than Zach's ability to teach him for there was little of that happening due to the aforementioned injury.



Long story short?! I do agree that some of these coaches are well past their expiration date. I disagree that Zach needs to go after one season. For that matter, as I see it, Zach Azzanni's grade as a position coach is incomplete for we only saw development of CA III. Pickens is going to be a problem, if not issue, at this point and Van Jefferson's lack of usage in the Offense boils down to both Arthur Smith and Russell Wilson; the former given the fact he couldn't read the MOF and the latter for not designing more plays for him.

 

Given the fact that Mike Sullivan is a holdover from the Matt Canada days, I'd assume he would have been gone by now. Why the team still has him, along with others employed, is beyond me.

 

Which ultimately lands on Tomlin's shoulders, and since he's being kept it now lands on Art IIs. The lack of accountability of players and coaches is Art IIs fault.

 

Guess we all will have to wait another week or so. For that matter, as painful for me as this sounds, I don't expect any changes to be made until after the Super Bowl. If no changes happen by then, no changes are happening period.


For that matter, I believe AR II is supposed to address the media soon. Last year he did so on January 29th. I suspect that it will be the same date or on the 27th. Perhaps there will be more information then.

 

I will be curious to see if Art says anything about the 2024 Defensive Failures of the team. That would be a direct shot at Tomlin, and may indicate that Austin is out in favor of an actual Defensive Coordinator that can run the defense.

 

By then all the good candidates will be gone. We will either get the scrubs or promote some sycophants
