Johnson was terrible with the Eagles lost his play calling duties during his last season there.

Yes, but at the same time he's young enough to learn from his mistakes. But I do understand where you're coming from.

Tomlin puts his own ego above the good of the team, so it's pretty moot who we hire IMO. There's nothing he does well on gameday, I think he's trying to keep all the glory for himself. That's why he has no tree, because he's not an x's and o's guy and never has been. He hasn't developed in that regard 1 iota in 18 years.

In any other organization, this would have been diagnosed and he'd have been long gone. Part of the record, is that he has 100% job security at all times, and also what he is credited to do best hwoever nebulous that is. But it also prevents the team going further, because he has his fingers in every pie.

That can't be true because I have been told by fans that Tomlin calls the offense and the defense .

The post above with the tweet from Farabaugh says it all, more same old sheet, different season. Not all are under contract, so even if they suck and the players suck, causing the team to suck, we will suck it up till their contract ends.

You call it arrogance, and it may well be. Some here state Art is satisfied with status quo, being thrifty or even cheap, all may have some truth, but bottom line the 'patient' thing can become as much of a problem as high meddling owners. Pulling out your yearly stack of bands aids to fix gaping wounds, when you need a serious operation. I do not know how deep you cut, but get it done, putting more slop in front of the hogs feeds them for a while, but the end is fat sloppy hogs, lol.

He hit the nail on the head, without even realising it - words are hollow, yes and they're all your words Mike and we've heard them all before. Just pretentious waffle at this point. The talking heads lap this up because it's quotable and at times he can be amusing. Trouble is, everyone as laughing at the Steelers, as I have said before we're sliding into irrelevance unable to and unwilling to change this is Al Davis's late era Raiders all over again. Trying to win with outdated methods. Shula stayed too long, so did Landry so did Bellichick, this is just the same thing.

As for Rooney, I think Rooney cares more about the staus quo than anything else, he's running from confrontation and the ease of familiarity. Which is what Tomlin does, and what Tomlin also provides, that's why the team always looks the same and follows the same patterns.

That 3 year deal was just buying a comfort blanket, was doing anything except what you need to do, procrastination, mowing the lawn, clipping the hedges, tidying the yard, anything BUT getting the ladders out doing what actually NEEDS to be done, that which is most pressing and cleaning out the gutters.

    Discplacement activity.

It is always so refreshing when there's an actual conversation/discussion happening in a thread, and some echo chamber has to come in with the 'nothing is worthy of discussion until Tomlin gets replaced' blah blah blah blah....

The depth of content of such posters is definitely glass half empty.

Bottom line is the offense is still not good enough.

Personally I would keep Smith if possible although he's not been amazing Fields might be able to perfect his offense if given the opportunity.

I like Wilson, but this team needs youth and a future vision and is not one or two players from being in a superbowl unfortunately.

They need to upgrade the RB and WR room. I personally love the TE room they already have they just need to utilize them more, especially mount Washington in the redzone.

I have personally subscribed to the fact that Teryl Austin, for worse to potentially damning results, will be returning. As that is the case, how about hire a Senior Defensive Assistant?! While he has been poor as a DC, Teryl Austin was better as a Senior Defensive Assistant for the Steelers from 2019 to 2021.

Nabbing a new voice outside the Organization and having that person step in as a SDA wouldn't be a bad thing given how both Austin and Tomlin could definitely use a new perspective on the Defensive Side as a whole. Given how so many opponents have stated that the Defense is simple and easy to read, might be a good time to find someone who has a more analytical X's and O's background. Again, Jim Leonhard would be a great starting point though I wouldn't count out Aubrey Pleasant either.

Once their role is finished in 2025 as SDAs?! Kick Teryl's ass to the curb in 2026; paving the way for either or to be the DC.

As for Offense?! Pooch kick Pat Meyer out and nab TJ Paganetti.. no matter the price.

Yes, I'd bring in Paganetti even if we don't drop Meyer.

    Agreed.

Change something. I seriously hope Meyer though is the first to go. Mind you that this comment is coming from a long time Meyer supporter. I figured given his background he would aid both Dan Moore and Broderick Jones. Granted, Broderick Jones only starting a Season in College while being flip flopped in the NFL hasn't aided him much but such potential and talent is why you pay coaches. Meyer hasn't been able to maximize Broderick's abilities. Dan's progress is evident but beyond him, that is, more or less Pat's resume. Spencer Anderson is still not 100% ready to be a starting Guard (if he ever will be at this point) while Mason McCormick and Zach Frazier are complete outliers; both starting over 40+ games in college.

Overall, Pat Meyer has not done a good job in developing either Anderson or Jones (to a lesser extent). In addition, given how Dan Moore Jr is slated to hit Free Agency, perhaps it is time to look for a true teacher of the position. If Meyer stays?! Pooch kick Mike Sullivan to the curb and give Paganetti the role of Senior Offensive Assistant. Have either Matt Baker or Mateo Kambui be the Run Game Coordinator.

Anything to make the team - offense in particular - watchable again.

Just catching up on the Lions-Commanders, and it was a fun game. The Commanders have an exciting offfense, varied, imaginative.

I can see the approach Batko is outlining as one step towards that. Using players strengths better is easier with more coaches feeding in info to the OC. Getting players familiar with new concepts is easier with more coaches to teach it and shape it.

    Agreed.

Aside from the repetition, which I can understand given the frustrations there are, it massively oversimplifies things in an unhelpful way.

It reminds me a bit of when I worked somewhere and the manager was so bad, we all kept saying if only they were gone things will improve etc etc. Eventually they left and we got a new manager. Better person, brighter ideas… Exactly the same results. That’s the point you realise projecting all your problems on to a single solution is the real issue.

I don't think there will be any major coaching changes. This cast will be mostly intact for next year.

I think there will be some changes but not as soon as some fans would like for it to happen.

Which is a mistake if that's true. Gotta allow guys time to find new jobs and get ahead of the mix to find their replacements. At the least Austin should've been gone before Tomlin's press conference last week.

Maybe we can get Campbell, he lost two years in a row!!! Or O’Connell from the Vikings. Ryan’s from the Texans has lost two years in a row.

Have we even made any announcements or interviewed anyone? Slow boating it will only mean we end up with other teams’ rejects
