It took me weeks to get over this loss.

I'm still mentally scarred from that game. What a debacle. Was ready to see Steelers go to the Super Bowl and play the 49ers.

F'd up! About 20-25 of us and it got dead quiet. That hurt me more then the Packer SB loss. I walked around for 3-4 days like a loved one passed. To this day when it is brought up, we say, "Niners would have embarrassed us".

We would have been smoked that is the only silver lining.

I've said it in the past and a few members pointed out ways we would have made a game of it. I didn't agree with it at all.

For me, the silver lining was what the 9ers did to the Chargers in that SB!!! I don't think we would have beaten SF but, I think we would have made it competitive

@steelersrule6@steelersrule6 I was so confident they would win the game that I recorded it on VHS to watch it later and headed out to the mall to do some shopping. I was stunned they lost when I watched it later that night. I was also glad that I didn't waste my time sitting at home watching it live on TV.

Now I am as well because I don't have any confidence we will win in the playoffs. Back then oddly I did because we fundamentally more sound. I knew our QB wasn't blue chip but everywhere else we were sound. SF so quickly blew out the Chargers it was about as bad one side as the Bears/PATS 85 domination. Even with Ben and crew anytime we faced Brady I never believed we would win because our D was never gonna beat him. I Love Lebeau but he never adapted to beat Brady which STD always says you build to win your division. Ironically that mindset can change with how the seeding works starting next year. Winning the division isn't as important if your winning percentage is better you could still get a home game if I understand the new rules.

Was lying on my sofa watching that game and just turned the TV off and stared at the black screen for like an hour. No joke. Probably the worse I ever took a loss.

I still feel the pain of the January '95 AFC Championship loss to the Chargers. On the other hand, I feel nothing but apathy towards the latest playoff loss to the Ravens. Weird.

I feel for you. There was so many San Diego bandwagon fans to come out of the woodwork after they won wearing Chargers gear in my area. It was ridiculous. After they lost that Super Bowl they have been in hiding since.

Me too, like shell shocked. I had to get on a plane and fly to the West Coast that night with my brother for business and literally we didn't say a word on the entire flight from Newark to LA. It was as bad a feeling as watching the Pirates blow it against the Braves. Even losing to GB didn't have me as upset nor the Dallas loss because we were the underdogs that game left me numb. I I still have my Lloyd jersey hanging in my closet.

Some fans look for the silver lining in that loss by saying at least we were spared a SB loss but screw that. I think it would have been a much more competitive game, don’t know if they would have beat that 49ers team but I think they would have represented well and as they say, any given Sunday. I would have liked to have found out.

I 100% believe the Steelers matched up way better then that Chargers team did. It would have been a more competitive game for sure.
