not exactly accurate - are you saying that Harbaugh was a good QB? that was Jim, not John.

Johnny was ready to be FIRED. I lived in Maryland most of my life and THEN. Biscotti was READY to fire him that season. Flacco was sucking, they made the SWITCH to Lamar mid season and it ALL CHANGED.

and.....to JOHNS CREDIT - HE CHANGED. Something our dumb coach cannot and won't do. and John will hire GREAT Coordinators. Tomlin won't

We absolutely passed on him, every team did, he went 32nd. I attended Louisville and followed him in college. On draft night that year I was jumping for joy because he fell to us. I blogged on here that we should take him and all the responses were that we didn’t need another slash, he’s a Mike Vick wanna be etc. Then they took a safety that should have gone in the 3-4th round.

More than likely could have had Lamar and the safety.

Hindsight.... Though guys like Lamar haven't been successful until recently (Vick aside). We also had a chance to draft Hurts and took Claypool instead.

Tomlin would've screwed him up anyways... so it probably a moot point either way.

I heard some rumblings that we might.. I thought it was too big of a risk. Turns out that it was the best thing we could have done lol

Uh, I was at the Blue Bottle Saloon in Wichita the night the Steelers didn't draft Lamar and I don't remember you being there to hear my opinion.

It is rearranging the deck chairs on the titanic. Tomlin chose his coordinators, Tomlin chose his qb. Tomlin signs off on the schemes etc. So change a few parts but the same head coach stays. Insanity or I just hope economics.

We seem to have trouble in that area. And it's very rare for a team to win a SB with a journeyman QB. Bradshaw to Ben was a long wait, we had a few moments with Kordell and Neil. And even if we get super lucky, we are 2-3 years away from having a QB that makes us a contender.

I mean, so did the Browns (twice), Jets, Colts, Bills, Bears, 49ers, Cardinals, Dolphins, Bucs, Redskins, Saints, Raiders, Bills, Chargers, Packers, Cowboys, Lions, Bengals, Titans, Patriots (twice), Panthers, Ravens (first time), Falcons, Seahawks, Jaguars, and Vikings

Why was Ben on his way out during the 2018 draft? He had just turned 36 and went on to set career high in TD passes and yards in the 2018 season. Before he was injured in 2019, it was safe to assume Ben probably had 3 solid years in him....who was paying first round money for him to sit for 3 years?

With this logic they passed on Brady and Purdy as well.

I don't think the Steelers made a mistake passing on Jackson. Everyone passed on him. No one really knew. The Ravens passed on him as well, they traded back into the last pick of round 1 to grab him for the sole reason that if their gamble paid off, they had a 5th year option.

The mistake the Steelers made was in 2020 when they took Claypool in round 2 with Hurts on the board. That is the one people complained about at the time of the draft.

You’re the funny one. Lamar’s teams and coaches have failed him? I don’t think there’s a QB in the entire league who has been set up for success better by his team than Lamar. Hilarious take! :bscow:
