He also did things Fields can't do, like throw an accurate deep ball and complete a pass that requires touch on the throw. How the hell does a quarterback get to his fourth year in the NFL and he can't throw anything but a line drive?

Yep. I like Fields as a QB....but consistency in touch throws and accurate deep throws are what separate the good QBs from the elite QBs.

    Mason had years of windows

    Pickett ran

But you were correct on the Ben contract extension

    True.

I just think there is way too much talent and skill with Nico.

The time he has shown me this season was more than enough. Should he falter next season, my opinion will change. Until then?! He is a sure lock to go number one overall.

With those bloodlines, he’s not failing. NFL future star.

We just signed Skylar Thompson to a futures contract. Possible QB3, I guess.

That is incorrect. Mason Rudolph has never been given a starting jo and a window, like Pickett and Darnold and Trubisky and Mayfield and Jameis, and Watson and Fields and so on. Mason Rudolph is a 30 year old rookie now, because the Steelers' bumbles and mumbles and fumbles.

It's not even consistency. He can't make touch throws. He has shown the ability to throw deep in the past, but he didn't do it well this season. I don't understand how anybody can like a quarterback who doesn't read defenses well, is too slow to make decisions, and can't make all the throws.

The best throw I saw Fields make during the 4-2 run, was the Colts game when Steelers were trying to rally from 17 points down. It was a deep throw completed to Pickens that was called back for holding penalty. Fields was under pressure.... and made a helluva throw running right.

Where was this during the Cowboys game?

No, he's not a 30-year-old rookie. That's just silly. He is a 29-year-old who has appeared in 29 NFL games, starting 18 of them. When he did get his shot in Pittsburgh, he was benched for Duck Hodges. The Titans plugged him in this season and benched him to go back to Will Levis. He has been a free agent twice. The first time, no NFL team even wanted him as a backup. Even after his brief hot streak at the end of the 2023 season, no team wanted him to compete for a starting job. He had to settle for being a backup to Levis. He has had opportunities and has proven himself to be a capable backup quarterback. He is a guy who can give decent production for a few games in the right situation, but that's all he is.

He is inconsistent with his deep throws, but touch passes seem to be completely beyond him. Everything is a fastball.

Did you ever see Tony Dorsett's son play football. I did. There is a reason he was never any more than a special teamer in the NFL. It takes more than bloodlines, especially at quarterback.

I`ll predict a potential blockbuster trade where we get Murray from the Cards for us giving up Pickens and draft picks.

I wonder if we bring in Dez Ridder for a look. I'm not impressed by the guy, but he did play for Smith in Atl. He's RFA with the Raiders. Maybe a workout?
