I can deal with losing playoffs....used to it last 6-7 tries. But any other coach would be fired for a teams lack of EFFORT. Why is that going to change next time we make it under MT. No one is asking the main question here.

That question was asked during the presser today and Tomlin gave a typical word salad answer.

Don’t confuse quitting with outcoached and overmatched

I wonder if the team felt like the coach quit on them when he punted on that 4th and inches. One thing is for sure the lack of confidence seems to be throughout the whole organization.

Which confuses me on the lack of change at either coordinator. The only possibly is Smith heading to Chicago or NYJ, and I'm doubtful of that. Roster changes and some assistants changes doesn't signal massive changes to me. And really tells me this organization has chosen insanity.

There's not going to be a change at DC, even if there should be one.

When you dont have the desire to be great, or think your already great…

applies to the players and of course to Tomlin

I think players are frustrated with the ineffective schemes on both sides of the ball, and therefore their effort wanes when they are continually placed in positions where they don't succeed. Why try when you know deep in your heart what you are expected to do won't result in any success? I don't blame the players - I blame the coaches - all the coaches.

I'd love to see what some real coaches could do with these players. Steelers are stuck in 2002 trying to recreate the Tampa SB team.

Which is why next season is going to be very interesting. If the typical 3-4 game losing streak happens early in the season, I see the wheels falling off and fast, especially when the fans start to chant "Fire Tomlin!" Previous seasons the players rallied around Tomlin, next season I don't see them doing that. Saturday was a tipping point in Tomlins tenure and it's not going to be pretty going forward. Which is why it's nuts to be keeping Austin. There won't be changes and the players know it.

If the players are frustrated with their coaches or think they are ineffective, they have a weird way of saying so. All of them, to a man, swear their undying love for Mike Tomlin, how great a leader he is, how much they'd run through walls for him (until game time). Yeah, the coahces deserve their fair share of blame. But that 1st Half Saturday was the worst performance I've ever seem from a Steeler team - on both sides of the ball. The player and their effort were a big part of that performance.
