The most likely option is the one a lot of fans will like the least. Fields.

Agreed, but because he is the bargain option among a poor group of choices, not because they need another look to see if he can be the guy long term. He already showed he isn't.

    Keep telling yourself that :lolol:

Wilson will be as equally affordable. If they go with Fields over Wilson it’s because they recognize their mistake even if you can’t.

You have a choice a $50k or Joe Bucks head filled with Quarters?

He's a far better DC than Austin.

Hard pass. We need a franchise QB, not a guy who has bounced round 4 teams.

We gotta blow it up and tank for draft day '26.

Keep trying to sell that premise, but it isn't true.

Wilson will be 37 next season and he will be less affordable than he was this season. I'm not sure he will be as affordable as Fields. It's not as if there was some great demand for Fields last offseason and he didn't do much to show he could be more than he was in Chicago.

In other words, there are many factors that could lead the Steelers to go with Fields next season other than your chosen narrative.

Any team that ponies up for him will regret in similar way the Giants did for ponying up for Daniel Jones. He looked like an improvement from awful, so they ponied up, scared to aim higher and regretted it.

If the Steelers sign ANY of Russ Wilson, Sam Darnold or Justin Fields, we aren't going anywhere. The upside, we can finally end the silliness of Tomlin never having a losing season. Maybe we should want one of those to be signed, so we can finish last in the division and lose 11+ games and FINALLY get Rooney to move to trade Tomlin for a used donut and stale coffee. Heck, maybe even FIRE him? Let him run another AFC team into the ground (hope he stays in conference for more easy wins in our future).

The team won 10 games and made the playoffs with a combination of Fields and Wilson. They could probably do something similar with Darnold next year.

They would get a hell of a lot more than that if they could trade Tomlin.

They both stink on ice. Please, god, aim higher Khan. Fields or Wilson starting we'll have less wins next year no matter what awful OC is in place. The real change needs to be with an aggressive OC that wants to hang 50 on each opponent and tells Tomlin to pound sand when Tomlin wants a gameplan to score "just enough", like 20 points.

Oh and Pat Meyer should already be unemployed. He's quite possibly the worst OL coach in the league.

It was smoke and mirrors and I think most of us felt that, but we chose not to live our fears, and then it all fell apart and we realised we were right. No team that collapses in that manner was ever any good to begin with.

Until next season, he can't cape for him at this point as he knows thats simply a untenable take. The media narrative has started to shift because they know they're out of step with their customers. It's what sensible businesses do.

Andy Daulton is a free agent as well. He's 37 and probably as good as anyone else out there

The part about scoring gameplan - 100%. I'm tired of that "I need 20 pts" crap. Tell the OC "score as many as you can. 50? Great. 70? Even better".

(Caveat: I'm not saying we have an offense that can do that)

Did he? Or did he say Tomlin is still a great coach, but it may be time for the Steelers to make a change? I'm betting it was a version of the latter.

Four of those last five games were against arguably the three best teams in the league.

Yeah lets not waste money on Darnold. Go back to the draft. Trade up if need be for the right guy. I dont even know if we have the personnel to identify a good Qb. Smith may not even be here.

The real question is if the Vikings are dumb and roll with Darnold, would you offer up for JJ McCarthy?

Yes and the 10-3 was against a whole load of trash, in the end they utterly collapsed once again in embarassing fashion because they're not very goood.
