what difference does it make? He probably wouldn't be as effective as he is now with the Ravens. This offensive scheme would ruin anyone. Tomlin can't get out of his own way. He hires the worst coordinators of anyone in the NFL. The defense and offense are awful. Yes we could have drafted him. But that's just wishful thinking. We are in deep crap now because of the way this team has developed QBs lately.

Some of you might be too young to remember when the Steelers passed on Pitt QB Dan Marino. Heard the kid had a pretty good NFL career.

Ben was still pretty good when Lamar came out, Ben had a problem with them drafting Mason Rudolph how do you think he would've reacted to them drafting Lamar?

Which would have been a good pick if tragedy didn’t strike.

Dan was of course the better pick.

Yes he may have been a great player. However that doesn't mitigate a pass on Marino. It was a horrible decision at the time. I'm sorry for how Gabe ended his life. He would have been a good player.

In hindsight, they passed on Jackson and Chubbs.

Passing on Jackson was egregious because Ben was 36 and they should have been preparing for life without him. He had a great year in 2018 but declined after that.

Chubbs is total hindsight but perhaps it shouldnt have been. Steelers should have had a better feel for Bells impending contract dispute, 2018 ended up being the year he held out.

They also drafted James Conner the year before I doubt they even considered drafting Chubbs.

Like most are saying 20/20...Ben had a good year in 2017 and even better year in 2018. Played for another 3 years after Lamar was drafted. They were never taking a QB in the first round that year.

Should they have? Maybee...worked for the Packers as Rodgers played two more years after drafting Love. But, there was much more friction between Rodgers and the front office than with Ben and the Steelers front office.

The Steelers let Ben hold them hostage. AB and L Bell were allowed to do the same thing.

Brady was a dark horse, Lamar was a no brainer.

Lots of teams screwed that up. Steelers drafted Tee Martin before Brady was picked. Chad Pennington, who was OK as QB was the first overall QB taken in 2000. I remember Steelers fans going ape**** when Steelers drafted Plax instead of Pennington. Good times.

Pennington would have been a good QB in Cowhers system. Better version of N.O.

    WHO CARES.

Ben hurt us late in his career - he was NOT managed well, he ran the Asylum. Tomlin let him. ROONEY ALLOWED IT ALL. We kept Ben around too long and denied his fall off. His last extension was one too many. Lamar (and others) was there - we had NO transition plan. 2018 draft, the need was there.

it is why we SUCK now.

Lamar couldn't read defenses or throw from the pocket when he got to Baltimore. Anyone who thinks this coaching staff could have developed Lamar is smoking some high quality product.

He would have looked like Fields in Chicago for us.

Chubb isn't hindsight for everybody, if you remember. I wrote that he was one guy they should have drafted instead of Edmunds that very day.

LJ couldn't throw NFL passes when he was drafted. The Ravens took a gamble he could learn. Yay them!
