Pirates won’t even make the playoffs they aren’t even trying

At least the Steelers are trying

Because of the parity due to the salary cap I can't see it because the Pirates will never spend the money to be competitive. They need a miracle like the money ball A's to get a group of players including pitching that all are under rookie contracts that gel which is highly improbable. Anytime a player particularly pitching is good by the time they are ready for the contract behyond their rookie deal they are traded because they have no chance of signing them. So no chance this happens. Now if you said the PIrates will win a playoff game before the steelers win another Super Bowl, that is something to ponder but I still would say likely not.

Pirates will never win in the MLB non salary cap league. The Steelers will be able to compete and will definitely win before the Buccos.

I should caveat my response to assuming current ownership stay the same for the Pirates.

It’s just overall sadness to see the City of Champions in such disarray. Guess I have been spoiled.
    Got to see:
    Steelers 6 rings
    Pens 5 Stanley Cups

    Pirates 2 World Series wins
Overall a lifetime of Championships for most cities

I’ve seen one more WS than you but I recognize what I have been fortunate to see

That’s why I don’t get high with the highs or low with the lows

Pirates ownership doesn’t care about winning playoff games. As long as folks keep going to PNC Park and purchasing hot dogs and beer…that’s all that matters.

As bad as this Steelers playoff winning drought has been, they’ll certainly beat the Pirates to a playoff win. Pirates don’t even care about winning, or even making the playoffs let alone win one.

Out of all the Pittsburgh championships… the one that stands out most to me is :
Pens beating Detroit in game 7
2 would have to be Steelers as a 6 seed winning it all

Agreed, one of my greatest memories was seeing Roberto get his 3000 hit. We were at the game before and they ruled what should have been a hit an error. My Dad said we are going tomorrow and got rooms at the Hilton (we felt like we were rich staying there) and went the next day and got to see it. The Buccos ceased to be a franchise in 1992 and it still pains me to this day. A brief moment with Cutch and the flicker blew out fast.

I still stand firm that the buccos will win a playoff game before the Steelers! Steelers problems aren’t a quick fix, they need help almost everywhere.

Yes getting one for the thumb finally was so awesome. Drove all the way home to Erie to watch with my brothers and it was the most exciting thing. Going to the Super Bowl and seeing #6 in person with my brother was very cool and a memory that will live forever. i keep hoping its not the last one. Would like my boy to experience that joy!! He's gonna be 18 and has no memory of one. Nothing better than being a kid and going to school as a Champion. IN Erie we had Browns, Bills and Steelers fans so the bragging rights where huuugggee!!

Yep my Mom was ironing cloths and she was crying and I asked what happened. My older brother was a huge Roberto fan and had a scrapbook and goes back to his World Series against the Yankees and he was devastated. Never will forget that day, up there with me like Challenger, Reagan getting shot, 9/11, etc.

I used to love listening to Bob Prince in the 70s on the radio. I still listen to some games on the radio to bring back memories

As a kid listening to the gunner call games was so cool. Listened to more games on the radio than ever saw on TV as a kid.

After Roberto died if I recall correctly, Bob gave the silver bat back to Roberto's son. Making me all sad thinking about that right now.

Do they still have the pierogi races? Haven't been to a game in years. I refuse to support them. Their like a non-nonprofit. They want to only make money and offer nothing in return.

DishNetwork dumped local sports in my area so I listened to the pirates games for the last 2 years on the radio

I found I still liked it better
