Dart laid an egg in one of their losses, keeping them out of the college football playoff. Now if the Steelers had a QB coach guru or OC who developed QBs, then I would be more interested. If he is there in round 4, he would be a good project pick.

You really love dragging out debates forever. It would be easier to admit you were wrong instead of the mental gymnastics you are displaying here. Wilson was a mistake, a big one coming on the heels of an even bigger mistake in Pickett. Wasted a first rd pick in reaching for him by about 3 rds. Tomlin can’t get out of his way.

In some ways the timing of Wilson's injury was unfortunate. I think it would've been better had he began the season in the role and tapered off by midseason, prompting the thought of transitioning to Fields. Then they could've hit the offseason wondering how to build on whatever they had with him.

There are caveats here: the tougher second-half of the schedule and Pickens' injury - not to mention the assumption they'd be capable of contouring the offense appropriately, period - but the timing could have helped, and maybe they would've ended on a slightly better note rather than a five-game skid.

He did come up short in not getting Ole Miss to the playoffs, but this is a weak QB class I could see him going in the top 15.

Wilson was worth the risk being a veteran QB on a minimum salary.

We will see. They exceeded my expectations this year, but it is no guarantee. Dallas had multiple 12-win seasons and were one-and-done in the playoffs. The bottom finally fell out on them this year due to their incompetent Owner/GM running back the exact same team.

Running back this same team, the one we saw the last 5 games, will be hard-pressed to win nine games next year. The defense is getting older and has suffered wear and tear. Some of the highest-paid guys are washed.

Hopefully, they make some offseason moves, because the offense is not good enough.

It was still the wrong decision. Would have been better off sticking with Fields.

Best outcome, he’d have developed into a starting QB.

Worst outcome, you’d have the same end result but with a definitive answer on Fields and possibly a better draft position.

Agreed because you cant play defense like we did back then or how the ravens won with a journeyman QB. Won't happen anymore unless everything falls exactly into place. The Philly win might be the closest to that. Very hard to replicate that again I think.

According to a recent CBS sports article Russell Wilson plans on being a Steeler in 2025. Wilson says “The Steelers are a championship caliber team”

    I say, could’ve fooled me.

It’s too funny. I’ve left two replies that require no further comment from him but he can’t help himself.

Certainly not with him they’re aren’t. If he’s in their plans I hope it’s as nothing more than a BU.

The offense got to be a top 10 scoring offense at one point with Wilson that wasn't going to happen with Fields.

So what? They were the bottom scoring offense over the last 5 weeks and a 1st rd exit.

Because if Fields was the starter the whole season averaging 17 PPG, they probably don't even make the playoffs .

How do we know for sure that Pickett was a bust. He had Dionte Johnson who was cut by 2 teams this year for attitude problems and Pickens who is just as bad as Johnson except he is a little more talented

That probably would have been for the best, if we're being honest.

And now they apparently wanna pay the same guys, and somehow the offense will improve.

We are actually in the same situation if not worse with the qb situation as we were at the end of last season.
We have no choice but to sign one of them. I didn’t like the pickups when it happened, but Wilson over performed for a handful of games. But, there was a reason Denver ate 80 mil and it wasn’t Sean Paytons fault

I agree, but in hindsight that would have actually been a better end result.

It's why I say go with him next year while doing some serious rebuilding.
I hate the thought of being a bottom dweller, but I feel we need to blow it up and think more long term

    Excuse me?!

I had stated such both before, during and after the conclusion of this season. For that matter, all I have been saying throughout the season was to basically upgrade the roster as much as possible in 2025 to prep for the one in 2026. As you said though, that is all under the pretense whomever he is even falls to us.

The draft will be in Pittsburgh in 2026, the Steelers need to do something big like trade up for Arch Manning.
