I found out Wilson has heart and is a competitor and Pickett not so much

Exactly, he does not allow the coordinators to employ their systems.

Rooney has 48 million reasons why he won’t fire Tomlin, thats about how much they have to pay him to sit on the couch. This sucks.

We’ll get a DC change which won’t mean much because Tomlin is the de facto DC.

About the only thing to get excited about would be a change in OL coach. I don’t believe it’s a talent issue at all on the line. If they brought Munch back I bet it would be a top unit.

I could see some heads rolling off this staff.

It was a good point brought up in the Washington Post Game commentaries. I had been hitting on it but not dead on it.
You have to have the 4 corners covered.
    Great Owner
    Great GM
    Great Coach
    Great QB

My problem here is the GM level being a dead spot. Maybe we have a misalignment of duties, and they are not assigned the hard jobs, I don't know.
But in most good organizations, The GM is a direct report to the Owner. If the system is broke, they have to have the hard meeting with that owner.
We have two important spots on the offensive side that are 2-year coaches.
I don't one that any team is making calls to or ever will.. (A. Smith is the exception)
Pat Meyer was basically fired from the Panthers as they sucked at everything. It might be hard to put the finger on Meyer explicitly, but the O-line wasn't good.
There are probably only 2 coaches I would retain on Smith's staff - (this would also be a problem is Tomlin is dictating who Smith's staff is)

On the Defense side, I'd fire the entire staff.
Again, I don't see any names any team is interested is pilfering.
Also again, this is a problem if Tomlin is dictating any Defensive Coordinators staffs and/or micro-managing that unit.

Ad nauseum, Both units are stale. They are coming up with nothing to exploit weaknesses nor create any resemblance of new wrinkles that teams aren't prepared for.
It's really not even a 'system.'
They are not embracing the analytics nor the newer concepts. The NFL is changing.

The elephant in the room is the fact that they have dug themselves very deep in this quicksand. I can't see how a deep cleanse of this roster and staff and possibly GMs could happen or if they are even willing to.
Mediocrity is a cancer; it soaks into the walls of the facility and onto the grass.... it is very difficult to eradicate.

It will be very interesting to see how they huddle up over the offseason and what they see as answers.

I always think of Saints fans who did that for years when I see somebody with a grocery bag on their head.

Rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic seems apt with this proposed plan.

I have seen at least 3 articles about Teams interested in making a trade for Tomlinson.
That would be a great scenario. But it won't happen.
Yeah, I know he has that "No Trade Clause" but he can override it if the circumstances are right.
Basically, all coaches have that clause anyway.
Still, I think the chances of the Steelers trading Tomlin are about as good a Bob Nutting fielding a World Series team.

It's hard for me to imagine Art Ronney II walking into Tomlin's office with a pink slip.
Not after a 10-7 season with a playoff spot.
    Ok, that was sarcasm.

I figure that even with all my bellyaching and pouting about 'one and done' and playing armchair czar on what should be done.
I figure little will change in management.
It took them nearly 3 years to rid themselves of Matt Canada where most NFL teams would have never given a shot to.

Meanwhile, I have Josh Allen that I can follow. It's hard not to be impressed with what he can do to defenses.
Goff and Stafford are a couple more I like, though to a lesser degree.
    And there's that pesky Mahomes.
And a newcomer, Jayden Daniels who doesn't play like a rookie at all.
One just has to live vicariously through those franchises that are willing to go the distance to win.

I know you like trolling with this nonsense, but we saw no such thing. It doesn't take guts thot throw a touchdown pass when your team is down 21. That's just an opponent momentarily letting up on the gas.

We've been over your fraudulent take on Pickett often enough on this board. Reposting on thread after thread is just you looking for a fight. Such behavior is disrespectful to the board. Please knock it off.

The Steelers standard is non-losing seasons... possibly going to playoffs. Then quitting and losing the rest of the time. I got it, it's great don't you love it.YAY.

However the Steelers live to play another game (wilcard) so since the steelers failed to deliver Does that apply to him and his dismal coaching staff? Get yo sh"" and get the he(( out! So to speak?

They were picked to finish last in the division and miss the playoffs by most talking heads, their over/under for wins was 8.5.

those predictions were based on the uncertainty at Qb going into the season. Nothing else really. Steelers upgraded all over the damn place; D, O line, only questions were Qb and receiver depth.

Well, QB is the most important position on the field. They suffered quite a few injuries on the OL and had to start two rookies, there is questions about the WR and CB room.

I am not so sure. The defense isn't getting younger, some of our best are washed, and the offense isn't better. We don't run the ball well, are soft in the trenches, and don't have a viable QB.

We get the NFC North, NFC West 17th game, and AFC East in 2025. If Cincinnati marginally improves we are out of the playoffs. This team could be more of a 8-9 or 7-10 team.

Two injuries on the O line. But i think Fields and Wilson played better than those pundits predicted. CB is a failure on Austin and Tomlins part. Imo. The last five games we were totally outplayed. Thats a system breakdown, not a lack of talent by any means.

There were more than two injuries on the offensive line. Seumalo missed the first four games and didn't seem as if he was right even when he did return. They lost Daniels for the season in the fourth game. They lost Nate Herbig in preseason, leaving them without their top option to fill in at guard. They lost their first-round pick after only one start.

Two guys out for the year I meant. McCormick came in and played well. I think the O line improved over the course of the season except for LT where Moore seemed to regress, i know thats one of the most important positions for pass protection. I dont know why they didnt give him more help. But overall the talent for the line is there.

You don't know ball if you think they have real talent at CB, Porter Jr is the only one who can cover man to man. Wilson sucked down the stretch the team didn't score 20 points during the 5 game losing streak.

or the Owner does, either way it's failing to be honest with yourself. I was stunned last year when they extended him with no reason to do so and now we will pay for it and frankly Watt, Minkah and Cam will never see a possibility for a run because as an organization we will move in this situation as molasses speed to do anything about it. IT IS A CULTURE PROBLEM THAT STARTS WITH THE HEAD COACH!!. You can add more players but you cannot make chicken salad out of chicken shi$.

Lol, Donte Jackson was a starter coming into this system and man coverage was one of his strengths. (PFF ranked 5th overall). Dont make excuses for our joke of the Austin-Tomlin tag team.
