I think Steeler ownership will want answers, I know if I
    owned the team I would.

Yes, it's Meddling Mike's defense and always has been.

I'd love to see what a real def co could do with these players, with Tomlin out the way. The defense is vanilla and soft, every season it falls apart and gets destroyed by a real HC/QB combo, like AR and PM, just like BB and TB did for years.

They don't hold Tomlin accountable at all, everyone else is used as a scapegoat.

The truth is with any other HC on a storied franchise who keeps falling short, the media would be asking why? But they don't it's a free pass for MT.

Rich Eisen is basically Tomlin's PR agent. The last video he did caping for Tomlin was papering over the cracks and spinning defeats into positives until you weere dizzy.

He's not held accounatble anywhere, in a league where HC's are routinely mocked, ridiculed and destroyed in the media, and you have to ask why that is...

Thought this might be appropriate for the coming weeks.
We really know who should be the scape goat Fire them all,
A team that played with no passion no heart no guts,No thanks. I hope
other Steeler fans feel the same way. Players also should be held accountable.

I'd be kind of surprised if anyone beside the O-line coach gets fired, and maybe another position coach. I doubt Austin gets canned.

Austin should be the first to go (Well he and Tomlin, but Tomlin has job security). Austin is terrible. We added starters and upgraded all over the Defense, added Queen who was coming off a pro bowl year, add them to stallwarts like Watt, Cam, Highsmith, Minkah and Porter and the D just fell apart. The D shouldve been a strength this year. Austin is just flat out incompetent. And so is Tomlin it seems.

Watch the next "DC" run out the same tired old defensive scheme and see what happens.

You know, I've gone through this many, many times.....
To be honest, I think you bought that property lock, stock and barrel.

I'd love to hear that radio traffic, especially the "No, Nope, No... we're not going to run that play, we're running this play"
I would hope they youtube it or maybe tik-tok.

I can certainly find things wrong with Tomlin, but that isn't one.
I have more of a problem with them not advancing into the new era and try to be cutting edge... Tomlin should be driving that bus.

Teryl Austin in his last stint as DC - His defense could not even force the opponent to punt once in 2 of 4 losses.
In fact, Drew Brees and the Saints set a mark in history for running up 509 yards. Brees was smoking cigars up in the owners box in 4th qtr....

Austin wasn't so good in Detroit either. Granted Jim Caldwell sucked, as did the franchise...
but they didn't sniff at giving him a head coach job there and he bolted for the Bengals.

I can't say he is the worst, I've seen some bad ones.. but we really need to move on.

I’m having second thoughts about the new WR coach but he probably has another year on his contract.

I think this is very overlooked. I heard a lot of chatter from the commentators over the past few weeks, as well as a couple of sportswriters that our WRs don't seem to know how to work back to the ball when RW is under duress. That smells of bad coaching IMHO.

More like a WR Room attempting to constantly adapt to a QB who cannot play any other way. Problem is, the way Russell Wilson plays now is insufficient due to his now severe lack of athletic ability. That really doesn't befall on the WRs.

What does befall on Zach Azzanni is George Pickens' consistency. Given how Zach was tabbed as a disciplinarian, much of that clearly hasn't manifested with Pickens. However, it has made a major impression on the likes of CA III. Perhaps this is largely a Pickens issue but more data will be needed to pass judgement on Zach.

Spot on. Brady would carve up Lebeaus zone like it was Thanksgiving Sunday every time we played them. Same **** every time. Rumor was the Tomlin wanted to go 4-3 and we never did and then stuck with our 3-4 without a dominant nose tackle after Hampton hung it up.

it's the NFL and to even think our guys who have been playing football their whole lives don't know this would be unreal. Jesus we all learned to do this in back yard football. Work back, use your body to box out the defender, etc. Simple ****. It comes down to each player in how bad do you want to win, are you playing to make bank or is that a byproduct of your love of the game. Hines love of the game, Pickens love of the benjamins.

That's an EASY question...it's the Rooney Rule! First, Artie II wants the world to know his daddy hired the right guy (obviously he did NOT). Mike Dumblin could commit a double homicide murder at the South Side football building, and Artie II would pretend nothing happened. Artie only cares about protecting his fathers image, at all cost, when he should be worried about winning Championships. If that means keeping Dumblin employed forever, then so be it.

The second reason he's not held accountable for his job is the perception coming from the national media. Tomlin was the poster boy for the Rooney Rule, so that means very few national writers or TV people will go after him. They want him around to feel good about the rule and prove the rule works, which it NEVER will in totality. The problem now, however, is that if they keep playing this thing out, the failures of Dumblin could backfire against the Rooney Rule, meaning other owners & GM's might be cautious about hiring the next Rooney Rule candidate. Basically, with all his failures, Dumblin has already set the rule back 15 years...and counting.

You will NEVER be able to totally erase racism in the United States, but hiring people only because of their skin color is COUNTERPRODUCTIVE to reducing it in general. This is 2025, most owners & GM's will hire the best qualified person for their organization based on merit, not some outdated, force-fed rule from folks sitting in Ivory Towers on Park Avenue. There isn't one f****** person on this planet who thinks Dumblin hasn't been given a fair chance, but by Artie II giving him years & years of undeserved paychecks, he may be hindering the opportunity of a minority coach who has actually EARNED the job instead of having it handed to him.

There is no room for your racist takes on this board

Any time I read someone trying to use the Rooney Rule as an excuse I immediately think one of two things

Racism whether they want to admit it or not even to themselves

Stupidity for not understanding the rule

    DumblTim has both bases covered

I'm not saying you're wrong - you are actually spot on that players should have this ingrained in them by the time they reach the pros (h*ll, by the time they are in college, or they shouldn't be there). BUT, pro coaches are there to not only reinforce scheme, but reinforce fundamentals when they are lacking. If an entire group is failing to do something that is a fundamental, then that falls on the coach. Unless you're saying all of our WRs are garbage and/or only care about $$

    Piling on here.

Baffling gameplan against the Ravens and I think that kind of killed the defensive fire.

They've never played them attacking the RB like that and letting Jackson use his legs. They've always kept him in the pocket as much as possible and capitalized off his mistakes.

Big issue if the announcers see it in the first quarter and you don't adjust at all.
