This narrative is nonsense. There is nothing to base it on. The guy is following the model that has worked for the Steelers since the '70s. I don't agree with his approach, either, but there is no evidence that he doesn't care.

 

And I thought the narrative about Rooney not caring as long as the team is making money was foolish. As others already explained, the Rooney Rule gets coaches an interview. Their support of it may have been part of why the Rooneys hired Tomlin. It doesn't do anything to help him keep the job.
