Man I bet there's no way they sign this dude. He's got more skeletons in his closet than a politician and after getting rid of Rainey for his issues wouldn't this seem a little hypocritical?

Recent Tomlin quote may suggest otherwise "I believe (Worlids) is chomping at the bit to show people what he can do," Tomlin said via Bob Labriola of Steelers Digest. "Change provides opportunities for people to ascend."

Well on second thought maybe the only thing they had on Elvis was that he had that road rage thing. But I was thinking he had more legal troubles than that. Weren't they thinking at the start of this season that he might be headed to jail or something?

Am I missing something? I wasn't aware he had any character issues.

    From the article:

"That the Steelers would be interested in Dumervil is not surprising since they could use some pass rushing help after saying goodbye to James Harrison, but it’s hard to see them paying what it will cost to sign Dumervil given how hard they’ve been working to get their cap in order already this offseason."

Not surprising? Does PFT have inside info they're not sharing as to why he'd play for as little as we could afford to pay him?

Yeah he got in a road rage spat with someone and they thought they had a felony weapons charge against him too. But the charges were dropped which either means that he was innocent or his lawyer was really good. But I remember at the start of this year there was some question as to whether he would even get to play because he was in so much trouble.

Yeah and if they're handing out money I'd like for them to call Charles Woodson too since he's my favorite non Steeler in the league. Also why not just throw Bernard Pollard back there too and maybe pick up Brandon Lloyd at WR. LOL!

He's 100% correct. This is Worilds chance to seize that opportunity, we'll see what he does with it.

Isn't Elvis just a poor man's James Harrison? Would rather have kept and overpaid JH than to see the likes of Dumervil here. This off season is just getting ridiculous. Somebody wake me up before mini-camp starts.

The Baltimore Sun reports the Steelers are interested in free agent DE Elvis Dumervil.

Reporter Aaron Wilson considers the Steelers a team to "keep an eye on." Dumervil has now been connected to the Steelers and Ravens since Friday's contract fiasco, and expressed interest in playing for the Dolphins. If the price is right, he'd restore the pass-rushing heat Pittsburgh lost when it cut James Harrison.

there is no way Steeler can afford him, I think someone is creating a smokescreen because they have ulterior motives....

Yeah, I wonder who these 'sources' are. I wouldn't be surprised if the agent himself.

Probably it's just to create some leverage and rise the price the Ravens have to pay for him.

If done, it would be the biggest FA signing in Pittsburgh since.....?

He came out and said he would go back to Denver if they raise their latest offer. He will sign with the highest bidder and that won't be the Steelers.

If James ain`t comin back, which I doubt he is, this wouldn`t be a bad idea...
    My question is...
Why wouldn`t Elvis just re-do the contract with the Broncos, since the only reason it was voided was a 2 minute technicality, on the paperwork?!?
If he wanted to be there... accepted their offer... They wanted him there... just didn`t file the paperwork in time(by like a minute or so, literally)...
    Why couldn`t they just re-submit that contract?

That's what I've thought too. I think there's more to this story than is being reported. He even fired his agent so if he DIDN'T wanna be in Denver why would he have done that?

They took about a $4 million cap hit by having to release him so they don't want that $4 million in dead money + the contract they agreed on.

Dumerville is off the market, Ravens got him 5 yrs for 35 million with 8.5 million in one year. We never had a shot.

I wonder if this will be a big deal or not, I feel Denver was kind of okay letting Dumerville go....

It's a big deal to James Harrison. I don't guess the Rats wanted him as badly as he wanted the Rats.
