Pickens on last miss

Oh for sure, Muth made mistakes. Wilson made mental mistakes. Pickens makes them every week. Our defence has been nothing but a giant mental mistake lately, although better against Bengals. Not going to turn this into a coaching rant, but the mental mistakes have killed this team for a long time. We're not a smart football team. If we're ever going to make a deep run, the mental mistakes have to stop.

Muth needs to get that 1st down. Wilson should know better than to run in the dying seconds. Nothing but miscommunication on the defence, which is unacceptable this late in the season. Changes have to be made to stop the dumb mistakes from happening. Wilson has been around a long time and should know better, but maybe our coaches need to discuss the fundamentals a little more. I don't know what happens throughout the week of course, but we're just a dumb football team and it's cost us games over the years.

 

One other example of that is Wilson failing to get the first down on that sneak before halftime. There was a gaping hole in the defense over left guard. I saw a picture of the defensive alignment at the snap and I cannot figure out how he didn't get there. All Wilson had to do was move left, lean in and keep his legs driving. Instead, he tried to just lunge low and fell to the ground too quickly.

This is also a bit of an indictment of Fields. How is it that the guy is four years into his career and he still struggles taking snaps from center? It should be a no-brainer to use him in short yardage, but they can't trust him enough on a snap, so they hesitate to call a sneak with him in the game.

 

I'm not coming down too hard on Pickens in the last game. Those would have been some really tough catches if he had made them.

 

How can you be an NFL QB or frankly any level of QB and you cannot be trusted to take a snap!!!!

 

Pickens needs to go, as Shannon Sharpe says you either coach the behavior or you condone it. He's a lazy selfish player and no matter how much raw talent he has, I want him gone because I can't trust that guy to play balls out 100% every play, even the plays you don't get the ball because on those plays your job is to occupy a DB and maybe a safety as well. I can't trust you will do it play in and play out so I have no time for you. Trade him to a bottom feeder as fast as you can.

 

Pickens reputation on route running does not afford him the benefit of the doubt on this play.
