I had said the same thing. I’m having trouble actually believing it though. I wouldn’t be shocked, but it would be a pleasant surprise.

If the game plan is Tomlin bully ball Run, Run, Pass you might as well fold up shop.

They need to open this passing game up early and often and get a lead.

We get down a few scores and its lights out if its a conservative game plan.

And the vaulted most expensive defense best set the tone early and often as well. Can't let Henry run down their throats. And show Lame ar his playoff hopes are dimming snap after snap.

Anything can happen. My guess is we win or lose a tight game...Hopefully win.

Every defense knows this is pretty much the game plan on every series, so nobody is surprised. If Smith keeps this up, it will be hard to get ahead points-wise.

If memory serves, during Cowher’s Super Bowl run, we opened things up and changed around our offense in some of the playoff games. We need a page out of that book.

With the mentality that MT has saying we run because that who we are has to change. That is old style football turn the page. When through the ball we do well. We did beat the Bengals that way the first time and abandoned it the second time. That is my point. Last game with Ravens we played old school Rooney’s football and did miserably then turned around started to throw the ball and dam near won the game had it not been for the last throw which should have been caught.

If it's 2 runs, pass, punt for the first half, I hope Tomlin has the balls to put Fields in but he won't cause Mikey knows best;)

Screw it, do the wishbone with Fields, Najee and Warren. That would confuse the hell out of them and probably us.

Yes he did, during the 1st and 2nd playoff games they came out throwing most of the game and completely surprised the Broncos and Colts. Propelled them to the super bowl.

I get their thinking, too. The Steelers have played terrible football for four games. The Ravens are on fire. Baltimore could blow Pittsburgh out Saturday and I wouldn't be shocked. The defense needs to be better, and they need to start the game better. They are has healthy as they have been in a month, so hopefully, we see a lot better than the first game in Baltimore.

They did come out throwing against the Colts and it worked. They jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, then 21-3 in the third. If not for the interception being stolen from Polamalu by the officials, that game wouldn't have even been close.

ESPN just showed some Steelers Offensive stats for last 4 games, yes they’re offensive.

Almost last place for each category they chose.

The panel seemed to be in agreement that Russell should have a short leash on Saturday. Dan Orlosvsky said Fields should play on every first down and EJ Manuel said that Fields should just go ahead and start the game.

It’s how they beat the Colts in the infamous Bettis fumble/Shoestring tackle.

My memory is fuzzy about when coaches challenged started. Was that enacted yet during that game? Because it was clear as a bell that Troy made that interception that would have clinched the game.

Just got our butts kicked 34-17 by them.

Kept it close for a while but the end result is all that matters.

It was initially ruled an interception and Tony Dungy challenged the call. It was overturned after a replay review. The league later acknowledged that it should not have been overturned. That would have given the Steelers the ball in Colts territory with an 11-point lead and 5:26 remaining in the game. The Colts went on to score a touchdown with a two-point conversion on that drive, setting up the crazy ending we all remember.

I can’t speak for the last game

But the Steelers only ran on first down 41.7% of the time this season

The result is not all that matters if you want to use it to try to predict what will happen Saturday. That was a game on a short week on the road. The defense was came in missing two starters in the secondary, Elliott and Jackson, and lost a third when Porter got hurt during the game. They were also missing Ogunjobi, who is a solid run defender. Getting him and Elliott back should help. There is also the possibility that Zay Flowers misses the game. He suffered a sprained knee in the game against Cleveland. He torched the Steelers for 100 yards receiving in the loss in Baltimore.

That might all mean nothing. The Steelers have played like crap for a month and might again Saturday, but the defense is in a much better position to succeed this week. It would also help if Wilson would avoid killer turnovers, something he failed to do against the Ravens in Baltimore.

Wilson cost the team 14 point swing with his fumble near the goal line, and then throwing a pick 6 when the game was still close.

I've been critical of Wilson's play the last few weeks but to be fair I don't how many QB's could be successful constantly facing 3rd and 9 every possession.
