I agree and then Watt will be done, Minkah will be done, Cam will be done and then we have to start drafting many defensive positions and we have holes all over on offense. This sucks to be in this no mans land. As the other thread is discussing, no confidence we can go anywhere in the playoffs. My last bit of confidence was when we beat the Ravens in the AFCCG when we won the super Bowl. On top of that we barely won the super bowl, without Ben's heroic last drive we would have had the worst super bowl collapse at that time had we lost that game. Only the Falcons collapse to the Patriots was worse.

You're preaching to the choir my man. I'm all for trading assets to get draft capital to rebuild.

We will ship out Moore, Harris, Wilson, Roberts, Preston Smith, and Holcomb.

Maybe Jackson, but he could be re-signed. Maybe Ogunjobi, but only if we go with a round 1 DL. Can't have too many DL and a rotational piece like him would be fine. If we need his cap money, maybe. Otherwise, he will be a rotational player for a year.

I don't think we even can get rid of Pickens if we wanted to. At the very least he will be here through his rookie deal and walk. We might franchise him the year after if we have to. Can't just draft 2 guys and think our WR room will be competent. We literally CANNOT move GP unless we get a guaranteed #1 some other way (trade, FA).

these guys are backups. getting rid of any of them or all of them shouldn't hurt us too badly. as much as we play 2 down linemen on defense, ogunjobi is really a backup. that's 5 off the defense. 2 off the offense and one of the punters. tons of money to add viable players with.

NO WAY IN HELL WAS THERE 100% CONFIDENCE FOR ME GOING INTO THAT AFCCG.
    THE BIG TOPIC THEN WAS
COULD A TEAM BEAT THE SAME TEAM 3 TIMES IN ONE SEASON.

Tomlin has a no trade clause

    His parents live in Pittsburgh

The trade Tomlin posts are foolishness by people just wanting to post something

For me I did we were at home and our D gave me confidence. Most violent game I can remember in a long time. A memory now, the game changed and we haven't fully adapted to it.

Donte Jackson has had a really good season with the Steelers, he's had 5 picks.. He was acquired via trade, not free agency, and he just turned 29. He's hardly washed up.

The Steelers always spend money, they are always up against the cap.

The Steelers do not have to get rid of any of those guys, they are all free agents.

The only CB's under contract for 2025 are Porter, Trice, Watts, and Bishop.

According to the inter webs........the Steelers 2025 cap space without any restructuring or cuts is $58.3 million.

This includes on the 2025 roster
    0 x QB
    1 x RB (Patterson)
3 x WR (Pickens, Wilson, Austin)
    2 x Tackles (Jones, Fautanu)
4 x CB (Porter, Trice, Watts, Bishop)

Not to mention, a lot of defensive lineman on the roster but no impact players outside of Heyward and sometimes Benton

That is a lot of holes and very little money (for now).

The only positions they are really set at are

    Interior line, C and G
    Linebackers both outside and middle
    Both safety positions
    Tightend
    Kicker and punter

IF they were going to truly try and rebuild the team......and I mean from the ground up....then all trades of aging talent (Watt), headaches (Pickens) and the coach (Tomlin) should be on the table.

Could Semaulo be a cap casualty his play has been shaky this season, he's on the wrong side of 30 and going into the last year of his contract.

I totally agree with you. I think Pickens ultimately is the one that gets traded.

Precisely why I've been hinting Fautanu to LG. I don't see Seamalu on this roster next season.

If I’m reading it right they would save almost $8M by letting him go salary plus roster

That's a good point. I wonder if he is wearing a harness of some sort. We have seen that before with other players returning from similar injuries, but not being anywhere near their normal selves.

Why would anybody trade for Ogunjobi or Holcomb? Holcomb has missed over a year and battled injuries before that, too. Ogunjobi used to be a very good player. Now he is a dime a dozen plugger.

I'm not sure anyone else would want Seumalo, either, after the season he has had, whether it is the injury or not.

They will have to release all three of those players to get them off the books.

you can trade - you can get a draft picks, or players, etc. it is very rare, of course. But so is MIKE TOMLIN - LOL!!!!

The Jets and Pats traded for Bill Belicheat in 2000.....

    Bill Belichick Jets trade
    • Jets receive: 2000 1st-round pick (16th overall), 2001 4th-round pick and 2001 7th round pick
    • Patriots receive: Belichick, 2001 5th round pick, 2002 7th round pick

Nah, it's easier to find another guard rather than trying to find another tackle leave Fautanu at tackle.
