    Or should I say unfun fact of the day.
    We all know Tomlin has never had a losing season but…
    In 4 of the last 6 seasons, the steelers had a negative total point differential. If you concede more points than you score over the span of an entire season, you are obviously not a very good team. I do not care if you make it to 10-7 or 9-8. It means you win barely most of the times but lose badly on the other hand, with lots of blowout losses. It just shows that the defense cannot overcome the inept offense and that the defense is not as good as claimed a lot of times. And just remember how many receivers, quarterbacks and different coordinators we burned through.

    Actually this is the spot on point that you will get 100% agreement on in this MB (and what a rare fun fact of the day it is) - the Steelers have not been a very good team the past 6 years including the bizarre 11-0 start in 2020. Good at times perhaps, but not in the long run, obviously.

    But regarding the point differential - here are a few comparisons for 2024 results - I'm sure this probably mirrors the last 6 seasons and way before. But, per Dizzy's point, the Steelers point diff for the last 3 SB appearances were in the 120+ range.

    2024 Final pt diff results
    Steelers = +33 (Playoff team)
    Cincy = +38 (Just missed playoffs)
    KC = +59 (#1 seed - go figure!)
    Houston = 0 (won division, #4 seed)
    Rams = -19 (won division, #4 seed)
    Atlanta = -34 (Playoff team) Nope. Sorry - TB won the deciding game.

    While the odds of many of these teams making it past Round 1 are slim and distorted with the NHL type playoff scheme, just remember - on any given Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday..............

    the thing is, as you also said, those are not really good teams and did not have winning seasons for at least 6 straight years (except KC). And if you have so many winning seasons in a row, people would expect that you are a fairly decent team. But this stat proves they are not. So in the grand scheme of things I am wondering how much value those winning seasons have, if that is the ground they are build on.

    Essentially it has precluded the Steelers from attaining high coveted draft picks. Albeit that factoid never seemed to aid the Browns much but that's why they're the Browns whether in the draft of via "blockbuster" trades. :lolol:

    And yet somehow that doesn't deliver a warm and fuzzy feeling in the overall scheme of things. :hmm:

    Nor will it be warm and fuzzy in Baltimore. It will take a game liked they played five games ago.:cool:
