The failure to have a succession plan for Ben, ala what the Packers have done twice, has really hurt. I guess they half-heartedly tried with Rudulph, but Ben didn't exactly take him under his wing. In the same 2018 draft they took Edmunds and Rudolph, the Ravens took Lamar 4 picks after Terrell. A little over a year later, Ben blows out his elbow and the Steelers trade away a first round pick for Minkah and use the second for Claypool. If they had that first they could have drafted Justin Jefferson if they thought WR was the biggest need and drafted Hurts in the second. The hindsight what if's are interesting to say the least.

 

I do have to wonder if the whole Rooney rule thing does play a part in his decision making.

 

This is a franchise who kept Noll for 23 season and Cowher for 16. Hell, Noll won exactly 2 playoff games his last 12 seasons before finally leaving. Granted you get some leash after 4 SB's, but you get the point. Keeping Tomlin for this long with his record, which by the way is the best winning % in the history of the Steelers, is completely within the norms of the franchise and nothing out of the ordinary.

So I'll ask, why would you think what you wrote?

 

It's not racist. He's pointing out the fact the Steelers who sponsored the rule on interviewing a minority coaches for Head Coaches would not want to deal with the social media flack that would come with the Steelers firing one of the only minority head coaches. You can write the headline yourself, "The Pittsburgh Steelers who established the Rooney Rule have just fired Mike Tomlin one of the only minority head coaches in the NFL". The fall out would be a shi$ show. That's not racist, it's just a fact. Organizations and Companies do not want that fall out. So Mike will be here until either he decides to leave or his contract runs out and even then if he wanted to a new contract and made that public the pressure by Pittsburgh to do it would be immense. It is just the way it is. So stop seeing ghosts in every post that comes up about Mike.

Ol- work in progress
Te- we have one blocking tight end and one good receiving tight end. The other two need to go
WR- we have one that’s a head case
Rb- we have two solid and one that needs to retire

I would say there’s definitely a talent issue

 

We have a top 10 talented team in the league. We don't have a high end QB, but our front 7 is tremendous, we have a decent secondary and high end special teams. Offensively we have a solid TE room and a high end WR1. We lack at QB, RB1, and WR depth.... but every team has holes (even the Chiefs).

It is pretty apparent to anyone willing to look at the coaching staff that the coaching is the main issue. We do the SAME THING over and over again. We lose to teams that draft in the top 5, we go on 3 game losing streaks EVERY SEASON, and then when it comes time to play in the playoffs we are under prepared and out schemed.

We have the money and draft capital available to fix pretty much every issue on the roster outside of QB... The only issue that we have left is a coaching one. Our coordinators suck, our HC goes for it when he shouldn't and punts when we need to go, and we are left reeling with no answers from the HC yet again. We're gonna get fed the "execution" line year in and year out. I honestly believe that Tomlin is not interested in where HE needs help. He needs the players to do better and that is that. I don't know if it is that he is totally unwilling or if he is just incapable, but that has been the outcome every year. I wouldn't expect that to change.

Judge his football, his success or failure by what he does and not who he is. Are the Browns not firing their coach because he’s white? Did the Patriots fire Mayo because he’s black?? So they can hire white Vrabel? Or maybe Mayo didn’t perform, maybe they think Stafanski deserves another year. You idiots always bring up race with him because you have nothing else.

We have mods for this. Nobody wants this garbage on here. If you see something you think is against the rules then point it out to a mod, its not hard to find who they are.

If I wanted to see political ****, I would've joined a politics board. If I wanted to see people bicker about a comment being racist or not, I would log onto X. This is a Steelers board. Lets stop this type of thing. There's been plenty of mod activity on this thread in that regard.

 

They will give us the speech about words like the N word are just protected speech and the left hates the constitution. The rappers say it and they are just using it cause they do bla bla bla. Wouldn’t you give anything to see one of these stellar Americans say this to Cam or Harrison. I guess the stuff on the news makes sense when you read their posts.

I quoted you because it was like post 3 of calling people racists or bigots... It isn't just you, but there are different ways of "stopping it" or "calling it out". DM a mod (who if you read back in the thread are actively engaging trying to stop this bs already).

We don't need a whole tread of "no, I'm not racist", "yes you are", "you're dumb", "you're a bigot". Its everything that is wrong with the world today and quite frankly I have zero interest in even being subjected to it anymore.
