He also can't throw anything but line drives. If a play calls for him to put touch on a pass, he can't do it. How the hell do you get to this level and you can't put touch on a pass?

 

Was it improvement or was it a coaching staff forcing him to be extra careful with the ball at the expense of making big plays? I think it was the latter. It is exactly what hey did to Pickett and it is a terrible approach to developing a quarterback. Fields still doesn't read defenses well. He still waits for receivers to get open instead of anticipating openings. He still has issues with fumbled snaps. He still can't put touch on a pass.

 

Kordell did the same crap. Everything was on a line/bullet. They have great arms but can’t figure out some touch or loft.

 

Khan and Wiedl aren't going anywhere. They have done too much right. I've been as critical of Khan as anybody for his bungling of the wide receiver position and I think they blew it taking Fautanu over Mitchell, but I don't think it is realistic to even consider moving on from them.

I thought Danny Smith's units did a lot well this year, so I doubt he is going anywhere. I'm fine with dumping the rest of the coaching staff, but I agree with you. I doubt it happens. Hopefully, they will at least fire Meyer. They spent all those resources on the line and they aren't getting results. It's time to hold him accountable.

 

Much of that cap imbalance came with Colbert as GM. Khan has only been in charge for two full offseasons. That isn't enough time to fix that sort of problem.

Some are anticipation throws some aren’t. You know who else isn’t Mahomes but guess he sucks too? You think Russ is? Yep Fields has his faults that maybe he gets better at with playing time or maybe he doesn’t but he damn sure can pull it down and run. So if he sucks we finally get a higher draft pick for a qb what you got to lose at this point cause Russ surely isn’t taking you to a SB and being 10-7 gets ya nothing in the draft but like a 20 something pick. Sucking for a year if it fails is better than not winning a playoff gave in 10 years much less making it to a SB.

 

The play you referenced as being dumb and keeping him from being a 2 time SB winner. Him throwing the pick on the goal line. I will also argue he won the first on the back of one of the best defensive teams ever not to mention the rb he had.
