    The Pickett miss looms large...

Milroe is awful, he's a smaller version of Anthony Richardson.

Should have went when the rest of that class did, in the 3rd. In hindsight after seeing him play, he was a 4th rd pick.

I think we have a better chance at getting Darnold. I think we have to move on from Wilson and Fields is not a viable option either imho.

But in the end i think the Steelers will trot out Wilson or Fields out there next year with our fearless leader (Tomlin) steering the ship again. And we’ll squeak out another season just above 500.

He was never going to go that late, but sure, hindsight is another matter entirely. The biggest problem is he can't hold up physically. I am concerned about that with McCarthy, too.

I'd be fine with them spending big money on Darnold, but they damn well better get another viable receiver. They might need to trade Pickens and get two.

The problem with this is that Darnold is gong to want a multi-year deal at a high AAV. What do you do, pay Darnold 30+ million then just roll the rookie? The whole point of having a rookie deal QB is to not have to spend at that position and spread the money elsewhere. Darnold is looking at 3-4 years and 30+ million a year. They kinda have to choose this offseason since Darnold is in the last year of his deal.

yeah, i agree on Darnold. I’m willing to bet that the NFL light has come on for him with O’Connell’s help and hes a better Qb now wherever he goes. In addition to receiver i think LT is a question mark too.

If they can’t work out a 2 year deal, they can franchise Darnold. I think they will and then they will know after next season if Darnold is a one year wonder or not.

Fair point. That is a one year, 41 million dollar bill... Probably worth it tbh. You never know what a franchise would do, but this makes a lot of sense.

I watched J J McCarthy at Michigan. He never impressed me with his accuracy or touch. His balls also seemed hard to catch. His success was more due to the system. He would be a downgrade from Fields or Russell

There are a lot of NFL teams that are in desperate need of a quarterback this draft. So I agree with you that it is going to be exceptionally difficult to find someone quality in the draft.

As for your number three, I don't have much hope there either. When have the Steelers ever tailored a game plan to a player? The Steelers mentality is more of a standard is the standard and this is how we do things team. Any player that would need a team built around them is not going to do well in the Steelers. IMO

It's also stupid to spend crazy money on a quarterback if you don't have the offense to support that quarterback. Right now we don't have the offense.

Are we even sure J.J. is the answer?!

Dude has some tools but I came away unimpressed of him both leading up to and during the 2024 NFL Draft. If I recall, I had him going late 1st. That more or less lines up with Kenny Pickett.

Granted, Kenny got overdrafted. It is too soon to write of J.J. given what we have yet to see from him.

He's really gifted running the ball and can be just as bad throwing it at times. He's a major project. The definition of boom or bust.

Any QB in this draft is a project. I wouldn't mind them taking a project QB in the 3rd or later, ONLY if that doesn't preclude them from going after a top guy in 2026.

You gotta plant a lot of seeds, you can't mess around with this QB thing.

Guys I like as projects, Kyle McCord, Jaxon Dart, Kurtis Rourke

Jaxon Dart looked really good in the Gator Bowl against Duke throwing for 4 TD's as they racked up over 50 points.

Rattler put a scare into Tampa Bay today as the Bucs had to come from behind to win.

Who knows who or what he is; he never made it out of pre season. I wouldn’t want to The Steelers to pay much more than what the Vikings got him for since he’s such a professional unknown. And why would the Viks give him away for the same or just a little more. They are sitting pretty QB wise right now. Then their receiving chore?!?!? I wouldn’t mess with any of that. Pay Darnold and a hood loooong look at JJ while the receivers ride their prime. Amazing position to be in.

We a short guy with half the throws he needs and an immature diva hothead puppy who I’m thinking wants out of western PA. I’d bet a paycheck th as t he forces his way out sooner or later barring a complete coaching turnover and even then he’s super likely to be a fly in the ointment.

I would trade Pickens to anywhere he wants to go. Take his 4 amazing looking catches for 85 yards a game and 5 TDs a season anywhere else. Go find a WR with great character or another GREAT pass catching TE.

I want a Gronk / Hernandez type system on the field without all the murdering off of it. Why has that not been replicated??? The Cheifs should be doing that right now.

Rattler has a lot of similarities to Big Ben. When he scrambles he keeps his eyes downfield, can improvise. Not the best qb, but like I said earlier, he will be playing on Sundays.
Would’ve been a good pick for the Steelers. Could’ve sat behind Russ for a season or two

I saw that, think it was like 16-3 when caught the score, I was like wow but Bucs settled down after that.

He played really well today but he has no one around him on the Saints to help him out. If they get Rattler some quality weapons he could do pretty well.
