Amen. I am already done with Pickens. Too much of a head case. The Steelers MUST trade him to some unaware team in need of impact WR for 2nd or 3rd round pick in 2025 draft. He is a head case and will only have a few game spurts of greatness with lots of similar games to the ones in 2024. Move on. I know he has talent, but its not going to outweigh the negatives. It's why he did NOT star at UGA and why he fell in the draft. Sometimes shrewd drafting isn't as it seems. We lost the bet in this case. I shudder to see the 10 players drafted after him, I am sure we missed on a need and a good player.

I am also aware the WR room will be in poor shape, but hopefully moving Pickens, signing an FA and drafting one in top 2 rounds this year will rebuild it fairly quickly. They can/should lean on TE a bit more (and RB check downs) next year until the WR room is 3 deep (or more) in average to above average talent.

Exactly. But it is way more than just that. We need better line play. We need a better run game. We need much better defensive play in the back end.

Thank you but I cleaned it up already.

I’d appreciate if anyone else engaging in that discussion turn it back to football now.

Feel free to PM amongst yourselves if you wish to continue talking about it. Just remember that the rules about attacking board members also applies to PM’s.

Brian Batko's article from a few days ago in the P-G looked at the players from 2023 and what they're doing now. 17 from the 2023 roster were not at 2024 training camp and 6 look like they're out of the league for good. The headline called that number "eye-popping". While not explicitly stated the insinuation was that the talent just wasn't there in 2023. Or at least that's how I interpreted the article was trying to say without saying it.

I'm not at all sure, however, that's the case. There was no numbers comparing the 17 and 6 to other teams in the league or from other Steeler seasons. I have no idea whether that's a high number, average number, or low number.

All this to say, we may have a talent problem and that I would like to know how our numbers stack up year after year and what the league average is.

There is nothing racist about that post. I'm not saying anything about Tomlin. I don't want a different coach because Tomlin is black, I want a better coach. I don't care what color he is. I am saying that Rooney won't fire him because he is black. You people see racism and Russia everywhere.

I think the last two drafts by the new regime have been very good. It's gonna take a couple more to completely rebuild the roster. And, of course, they're gonna have to hit on a QB. They'll probably have to make a big move in the 2026 draft. Just keep rebuilding the team till then.

The only player on defense who played like an All-Pro was Heyward.

I'm done with this stupid wormhole, but before I leave, I would like you to explain how that part that you highlighted is racist.

Okay brutal 11 day stretch this year what about every other year. They always fall flat the last quarter of the season and get blown out in first round. So the schedule isn’t an excuse.

Oh Russ had one drive in the 4th quarter so you happy? What about the 3 quarters before where he had 56 yards total? If the Bengals could have aired touchdowns instead of kicking fieldgoals then the 4th quarter wouldn’t have even mattered period. You think he is a starting qb in the nfl I feel sorry for ya. But hey he is good enough for the never had a losing season get blown out the first round coach he plays for.

This team has one legit starting CB, and one legit starting WR who is inconsistent.

Even teams out of the playoffs are scoring today with 3rd string QBs.

Steelers offense has been broke for years.

    That's correct.

It would've been fun to watch that drama unfold. Wait, did we sign Fields only after they traded Kenny?

While I do think we have talent on both sides of the ball, I also feel the team has been hampered by a string of ineffective first round picks.

If you can regularly turn your first round picks into quality starters, then you have fewer holes to plug. This paired with a starter or two from each draft, from 2nd round and below, just helps things that much more.

I think our drafts have been part of the problem.

Pickett set us back for sure. Being that Jones struggled this year, and Troy missed the whole season, things don't seem so hot. But, I've mentioned before, Jones is actually still younger than Fautanu, he's a baby with talent. And, obviously Troy looked really good before the unfortunate injury.

Yes. That was next level idiotic coaching by Austin. Tomlin bears responsibility too.

The worst thing was that after that first TD it was obvious it wouldn't work, and they kept doing it the entire game

Completely agree on the more recent picks. I think there is reason to be optimistic about our most recent first round picks (even Broderick Jones).

I was thinking more about Pickett, Jarvis Jones, Edmunds, and even Artie Burns. All who could be in their first or second contracts as starters on the team.
