I'm not an attention seeker, I do not look for conflict, I do not enjoy bad blood with my Steeler bretheren at all. Far from it.

Who wants to watch this movie again?

    Anyone?

The steelers have a well established toxic culture of mediocrity. Until the owners grow a pair of balls and demand change, we'll see the same results. The change MUST begin with finding a new head coach. Not merely firing scapegoat coordinators and position coaches only to hire similar inept retreads. Maybe Rooney doesn't care, but the steelers are losing fans and will continue to do so as long as Tomlin is the head ball coach. I'm much less likely to drop any of my hard-earned coin on anything steelers related to include merchandise, game tickets, concessions, or my time. Pay attention Rooney.

I’ve been a Steeler fan for 50 years and I bleed black and gold but seeing those stats when Tomlin got here and the last 14 years wow, it’s time for a change. I’m not saying Tomlin can’t produce a winning season but he can’t take us further. He is a wonderful motivator and his Team loves him but his game time mgmt, his decision making and the production is not Championship material. His style of play and the coaches he surrounds himself with our yes man, it’s time to shake things up. As long as he his our coach I will back him and the Team but it’s been too long for a franchise that was built on something different.

I would take this team with a handful of key upgrades.

I don’t know what Wilson will look like in a year, but if they could get a line in front of him that could actually block, and another receiver or two that are actually threats this thing could look a lot different.

Great post, I think that sums it up. We're clinging onto something we once had with MT that no longer exists and is no longer relevant.

Remember Al Davis and the Raiders did this for 20 years. It is easier to slide into yesterdays NFL franchise than one might think.

Simply put, we have to try something else because this 'aint working, Dallas held onto Landry's past too long.

I love Mike, but you have to put the Steelers first and go.

No it won’t look any different. It will look exactly the same with Magic Mike.

The problems are deep rooted and systemic, you're gonna see the same team, and the same results over and over.

I would trade players like Minkah and Pickens while they have some value. And I am not staying with a old quarterback with no upside.
I didn't mention tomlin because we know they aren't letting him go after just signing him
But 20 years is long enough.

If you're MT now, how do you look at Rooney in the eye, after you've been given an extension you shouldn't have got, after having the same season YET AGAIN, you've produced year after year and go "I got this"?

Come on, this is beyond any realm of credibility now.

I see what you're saying but I think the players, who stays, who goes, is irrelevant at this point.

    LOL.

Thinking wonder if I almost need them to just out right suck for a couple of years and rebuild. So strange to say but like some sort pallet cleanser of sorts. Or kinda just remembering what really bad is like or something.

Not sure but something is off and I just need change.

Rooney is a coward. Risk averse for sure. We know why Tomlin has gotten such a long life-line. You can get mad if you want, but its the plain, in sight, truth.

Curiously, what is the all-time record for head-coach playoff loses? Tomlin has to be nearing it, right? Few coaches continue to be employed wetting and crapping the bed this many times in December and January.

The media and pre/post-game show hosts probably celebrate that record too, noting how long you have to stay around and be better than .500 to lose that many playoff games. Tomlin can't lose. If he goes 0-17, they'd celebrate how he held the team together when most other teams would have imploded in the locker room. What a coach!

End the nightmare Rooney or have someone in the front office walk up and slap him on Monday. PLEASE.

    Said it in another thread.

Bottom out next year, something like 3-14, get a top 3-5 draft pick. Draft is in Pittsburgh in 2026.

Go into that draft and get a franchise QB and a new coach that year.

The fans have the opportunity to "slap" him - stop buying tickets, merchandise and concessions. That will change things quickly.

    Changes I want...

1 - Tomlin let go, amicably or with malice, don't care. I don't hold much hope, but its necessary to become GOOD again.
2 - New Head coach, DC, OC and OL coach. I hope that Arthur Smith gets a HC job. Pat Meyer should be let go and they should try to claw back pay for ineptitude, even if Tomlin, OC and DC stay (nightmare would continue).
3 - Pickens needs a severe disciplining or they need to trade him for a 2nd or 3rd round pick and start over there. He is a head case. A UGA fan close to me told me he can look good at times (in college) but appears to be a head case, nothing has changed, it held him back at UGA and I don't think the good will outweigh the bad (locker room, on-field posturing, whining, quitting), move him and reboot the WR room. * IF Tomlin is finally sent packing, then allow next HC to weigh Pickens value moving forward.
4 - Dan Moore needs relegated to swing tackle or sent packing, hoping he is not back, but if Pat Meyer is back, no OL changes will much matter. He could've taken Anthony Munoz and make him a bust.
5 - Get a real slot CB, a dedicated one.
6 - Do not bring back Wilson or Fields, unless its on some low cost, prove it deal, with a get-out after 1 year. Even then, I'd rather they aim higher than Tomlin-level mediocrity. Take some educated dart throws on a 3rd or 4th round QB and scour FA and rookie UDFA for a "project" with upside. Russ is too short, middle of the field is barely used and not quick enough any more to avoid a half dozen sacks. Fields simply can't throw with ANY accuracy, he is what he is, a wildcat QB that can occasionally hit a wide open WR, but not much else. That or sign Fields and find a QB guru to work on his footwork, throwing motion and processing of defense.
7 - Let Tomlin go...a second time, just to be sure the contagion is cleansed.

Wilson will be 37 next year. A 5-11 37 year old who needs to move around to find the open man? No thanks.
