Yes he is a criminal for sure. Also he was brought here by Kiffen and we see how that turned out. Also we see how it turned out for Dooley as well. He's NOT the next Peyton but he MIGHT be the next Heath Schuler IF he's lucky! LOL!

i see what you are saying and if they take him i will be dissapointed. to me it means they didnt do their homework. he does have a criminal record. if they talk to his former coaches they will know what he lacks. honestly, if they study his tape they will see he is a major project. maybe thats what they want. i dont know. i do know a former offensive coach who laughed at me 30 min ago when i told him tomlin and colbert took him out to supper. his reply to me was "for your sanity i hope they were asking about thomas or rivera." he knows i am a huge steelers fan. he also has great relationships with former players. bray will not be one of them. he has been called a coach killer

I work with a guy that's got some really close inside ties to the team and if I see him tomorrow I'm gonna see what he says about it. But I think we both know that you're not gonna find anyone around here to give Bray a ringing endorsement.

please do. i would love to know if the people i know are in the minority. some people i talk to are not as close now that we have changed coaches again. butch has cleaned house. it needed done. i think its funny when people look at his stats. take away troy, georgia st , and akron they are mediocre at best. 2 picks against flordia bama and vandy 3 against georgia.

He won't kill any coaches in Pittsburgh.. and he'll be told that long before we draft him, if we do.

I was thrilled that Bray didnt come back for his senior year at UT. Good riddance to the guy. Like I said earlier, he does have above average talent and abilities. Maybe he can develop and mature with the right coaching and mentoring. God knows he didnt get it here in Knoxville and for all the talent around him last year, the Vols offense was pitiful at times largely because of Bray's poor decision making. Patterson, Hunter, and Rivera made him look good. I don't know who said he had a bad OL. Maybe 3 years ago when we had freshman starting on the OL, but those guys have come a long way and are night and day better on the OL than they were when Bray got to UT. The dude throws tantrums and is a head case trouble maker. Send his punk azz back to California. He would fit in well with the Raiders.

i will. it will show me that we have a real need for scouts and player evaluators. i dont think we will take him. i really dont. one conversation with a coach that has been around him and they wont. i will always love my steelers because i love the team not an individual player. i am not a huge fan of some of the current players but they play for my team

According to this article, the reckless boating charges were dismissed and in another incident was only cited for vandalism, that's not a criminal record. What you guys are overlooking is that when these kids get to the pros they leave the college atmosphere behind and are not top dog anymore, they are rookies surrounded by a veteran presence. Obviously that doesn't always mean these character issue guys straighten out but I think more often then not they do. Anyway, I don't want to draft a QB yet but will gladly take Patterson or Hunter with emphases being Hunter.

Fair enough.Back to the topic, thanks for the service Charlie.. He's been a good Steeler but I knew his days were numbered (retiring) when he cried after beating the Rats in a regular season game. It told me he was at the end.

Most people around here like Hunter and think of him as the best guy on the offense. A lot of people have told me they think Patterson is good but he just likes to smoke marijuana. I just wish we could clone Heath over and over again and I would be the happiest Steeler fan in the world. I readily admit that I am an extremely conservative guy but I just think it's best for the image of the black and gold to have upstanding dudes wearing those beloved colors. It's like George Bush once said "we have a saying in TX and I bet you have it in TN. Fool me once shame on... shame on...WELL WE CAN'T GET FOOLED AGAIN!!" LOLOLOL! If you don't know what I'm talking about look it up and you can spend the rest of your life thanking me!

BFT and Steel1031, prepare yourselves, guys. This MAY happen.

Greg Cosell says he has the best arm in this year's draft. Mel Kiper says he would be a first round draft pick if he waited until next year. Pretty impressive comments from two guys that analyze talent for a living. And by the way, the Steelers' FO and coaching staff are not too slouchy either. They must see something special in the guy.

Consider this. I love that the guy has a "gunslinger mentality". THAT'S what it takes to make it in the NFL. Bray apparently has loads of confidence and talent and ability. Do you think that there is ANY hope for this guy? Could he possibly mature into a quality person that makes the right decisions in life, leaving his youthful indiscretions behind like many of us have? Sounds to me like we could possibly hit a home run with this guy if we were able to get him in the fourth round. I realize we could strike out too, but nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I just highly doubt it but we might be wrong. From the attitude that he has I think he could be like Jay Cutler. A guy that can throw it hard and all that but no one wants to follow him. Also with the shape we are in right now I think we have MUCH more pressing needs than to use a draft pick on him or any other qb for that matter. I feel like with Haley's scheme Ben is gonna still be around for a little while and if that turns out to be the case it could even be that Bray never sees the field with us and then we would've basically wasted a precious draft pick to get him. I just don't think now is the time to try and get a qb but if the Steelers think he's worth a shot I will trust their judgment while still questioning it if that makes any sense. After this year and how we took two guys that had some problems and already have had more I just think we oughtta play it a little more safe. But that's just me and I respect everyone's opinion whether they agree or disagree.

It's funny you mention Jay Cutler, several websites are saying that he compares to Jay Cutler. I don't know. It could be the perfect situation for Bray and the Steelers. I've seen some websites that say if he had chosen to stick around next year he might have been the number one overall pick in 2014 and would most assuredly be a first round draft pick. If we could get him in the third or fourth round and let him sit behind Ben for a few years, we could potentially have a franchise QB on the roster as the heir apparent without having to expend a first round draft pick on our next franchise QB which is what some on this board have said we'll have to do. I know he's a risk, but if we weigh the risk/reward, he may be worth the pick.

I do believe Charlie will not be on the opening day roster.
He is a phone call away if nobody signs him.

Of course he will be available. Who is going to sign him, Shady Acres Nursing Home? Just like almost all of the dinosaurs we cut after we keep them around way past their expiration date, nobody wants them. We have a long and tragic history of keeping guys way too long who don't contribute at a level they are getting paid and when we cut them, nobody signs them.

On the Bray discussion, I do believe there is potential that he can be a decent NFL QB. He will have to get the right coaching and grow up a bunch. It is definitely possible. He is talented with a strong arm and can throw accurately. He can also be inconsistent and sulk and throw tantrums if he doesnt get his way. Youthful indiscretions are just that and we've all been there. So I'll give him the benefit of the doubt there. But, there is a strong word of caution from people who have seen him up close and personal and many many people around here who have spent time around him. People who have seen him at his best and his worst --- and his best is darn good, mind you. His worst is very very bad. These people who know who he is and have followed him very closely don't want any part of him. So I think that should be taken into consideration when deciding whether or not to pursue Bray. The QB talent in this year's draft is very weak, so to say that Bray is at the top of that weak group isn't saying much. It is like a pig saying they are the king of the pigs. You may be a king but you are still a pig. Is that what we need to backup Ben and groom for his replacement? Not in my mind. But if he ends up in black n gold, I will support him, wish him the best, and hope for maturity and consistency. And if he washes out, I'll be in line with the guys saying, told ya so.

I wont go as far as to say there is NO hope. everyone grows up alittle bit. i dont doubt his arm strength. i doubt his ability to lead, make the right reads, and to give a crap. he made a statement one time that he doesnt even like to play football its just he is so damn good at it. he blew off a trip to the childrens hospital because he didnt want to be around sick kids that paticular day. for the record he did go some. i look at it this way. if for example i wanted the steelers to draft monte ball and some guy from wisc said no you dont. he has off the field issues and is a bad person. i will tend to believe him. national news picks it stories. local news tends to not cover up as much. local people really dont cover up anything. the kid was a cancer on a decent team. if you can find one person in a 100 mile radius of knoxville who thinks this kid should even be drafted i would be surprised.

i think they know if need be charlie or lefty will be there if they should need them. the writing seems to be on the wall with grad being signed and JP wilson being brought in. they have talked and shown interest in landry jones too along with bray. maybe they want to be prepared when bens contract runs out or is extended a year or two. they will decide then which way to go at that time, but will have something in place. if one of these guys show promise over the next 3 years, then the cupboard won't be bare at that time. maybe ben only wants to play a few more years. who knows?
