Its been said...but I do not believe Gay or Spaeth count...as they are not something that was "lost" We did not sign away a free agent from another team....they were cut and unwanted..no different that if we signed Troy Montana off the street.

Pretty sure comp picks only weigh free agents from your team you lost vs free agents from other teams you signed.....ie Victor Bulter would count...Elvis Dumervil would not....Dan Connor would...but when Rolando McClain is cut he would not.

I'll throw my $.02 in. My understanding is: whether a FA was released or not doesn't affect your comp picks. Forgetting about salary factors and such for a moment...if you lose 4 free agents, and sign 6, your odds of getting a comp pick are greatly diminished regardless.

Cutting a player would however have an impact for the team who cut him. Instead of Troy Montana, I'm thinking you meant Joe Mantegna...

You know, after I replied I thought "why does that sound familiar?". It's only vaguely familiar to me. It's a shame there isn't an archive somewhere.

I made up a "draft pick" and pimped him hard...it was a high school kid who wanted to go straight to the pro's and skip college...I talked of his 4.14/40 time and amazing agility drills....and there was more than a handful of people who thought he was real...so I kept it going for much longer than I ever guessed it would be....then I had him wreck his bicycle during his paper route and totally destroy his ACL, MCL, PCL....and had him announce his retirement for football. It would be funny if it went on for a week...but it went on pretty much two months until right before the draft.

    LONG LIVE TROY MONTANA

I'm beginning to suspect Hack also made up Rolando McClain.

I do remember Troy. I remember reading a few months ago that he is planning a comeback to football. His injuries were so severe that they had to amputate his lower legs and install Oscar Pistorius style blades. He says he's down to a 4.3 40 with the blades and is up to 6'1" 245 with 31 reps @ 225 lbs. on the bench. I'm forgetting what position he played before the injury, but he sounds like a perfect compliment to Timmons at ILB. Screw McClain, bring in Troy.

He was a QB and CB in high school....more athlete than football player....just sad that darn paper route ruined his life.
