They need a new philosophy; perfecting the routine plays, minimizing turnovers (yes thats the Coaches responsibility)…not as much emphasis on the splash or big play.

this Tomlin era needs to come to a close soon

It's stale as all hell now, the game has passed MT by, he's had 18 years, and we don't owe him a living.

How many times do we have to watch the same movie?

The only chance we have with Tomlin is if we somehow we unearth the next Josh Allen, Mahomes, Burrow.

he is not the least, but I get your point. MY POINT is that we are getting far less value in play than what we spent in $$. this cannot sustain itself. It is a problem. Queen has Highsmith and TJ to help him excel and he has not done so. That DLINE is not awful - it is middle of the road.

and CB......that too is not awful. middle of the pack, unless you are think JPJ is a bust? (PS - Trice showed some skill yesterday....he has a future here....)

We need to hit on a CB in the draft who can hit the ground running and not rot on the bench. How do teams like the Seahawks do this and develop 4th rounders at CB (Richard Sherman) who turn out to be All World Pro CBs? Why can't Steelers do this? I'd take another McFadden/Townsend type to go with JPJ... doesn't have to be elite... just consistent.

You're clueless as usual Spillane isn't better than the Steelers ILBs, Spillane did nothing when the Steelers played them this season. Najee has his longest rushing TD of his career was through the overrated Spillane.

They had the opportunity to lock up the position for a long time, but they chose to take another offensive tackle instead.

I'm not enjoying it at all, and I'm pissed off at the 3 game losing streak.

Yeah. a franchise QB makes up for a lot of things. Steelers have 6 SB's all won with a franchise QB. Rare when a journeyman wins a SB. Tomlin had Ben for awhile and had good teams. Went to 2 but IMO had the team for 1-2 more. I put a lot of that on Tomlin.

    Im not sure I agree.

The really good defensive managers in soccer are usually heavily invested in the tactics of the game. You can’t just put 19 men behind the ball, you have to know marking schemes etc because you’re playing the game without the ball.

It’s absolutely fair to criticise the defensive strategies of the Steelers, but to say there’s no game planning or schemes because they’re lazy is a bit silly

If we don't get a turnover the death by thousand cuts bend but don't break defense just gasses out our defense and when coupled with conservative offensive game planning its a recipe for the better teams to torch us. D gets used up because the TOP by the end of the year has these guys worn out. Add injuries in and we are toast. I've been on record that until Coach T moves on we are not going to go far because our teams lack discipline, we make too many mental errors and selfish behavior by members of the team isn't dealt with harshly enough which I point to the coaching staff. I root for them but down deep I lack the confidence in this coaching staff to get us back to the promised land. You gotta break some eggs to make an omelette and until the owner makes the decision that Tomlin isn't the guy to get us there we will seemingly be in no mans land for quite some time.

I didn't say anything about defensive managers per se, in fact they're the kind of managers I woudn't apply a lack of tactics to. OGS when at Man Utd, played for moments, he was inexperienced and knew little about being a tactical manager and it showed, someone like Jose Mourinho is the exact opposite of OGS.

Lazy is probably the wrong word, but placing so much emphasis on what oftens amounts to pot luck is not the level of scheme, gamplanning and adjustments I think is appropriate for an NFL HC with 18 years experience. I don;t think Andy Reed was out there hoping for some splash plays, his teams scheme etc tore our basic defences apart. The ball didn't bounce our way, Queen dropped an INT and the game was never at any point a contest.

But yeah, we gotta hope for some splash...

    This is not good enough.

So half our draft was excellent, wilson and fields in FA was a smart move. But queens just killed all that for you, eh?

    I enjoy watching Steeler football

    I enjoy winning more

But I don’t mentally break down like some of the posters here after a loss

There are some people here who are just mentally deficient

Well you must not be happy with the postseason losses then if this is the case. So why not just roll out the same product year after year after year. JEH will go to the games and enjoy a beer regardless. Logical right?
