until we win a Superbowl .everyone is inadequate....And if we don't win a f--ing playoff game Rooney needs to clean house. Or he doesn't care if we win or lose and he can be called MR. Nutting the 2nd

I'll bet my left nut he's more like 5'9". No way he's hitting 11. He's just a little taller than mini-me in Arizona.

It was interesting to see a few passes on first or second down . Over all I would say Smith is still very conservative and predictable.

When they line up with 3 TE's in a tight formation everyone knows its a running play.

Warren runs very well from a deep I formation but Smith wastes plays with slow developing plays where there is hesitation then the running is running parallel to the LOS.

Wilson does not appear to be the answer this year or next. For 15 yrs as a QB he has almost zero pocket awareness, you would expect he would see or feel a DE closing in on him.

We started the year with one NFL level WR and still have one but our one Pickens is a mental child as soon as he is not getting balls he quits on routes.

Great talent ****ty attitude and Tomlin probably thinks he can change the young man.

Mike Tomlin's statement was it was his decision alone to start Russell Wilson. I wonder who Arthur Smith was pulling for???

Will we see Arthur Smith's offense come out with Justin Fileds in Week 18?

I don't know what smiths fascination is with Patterson, but that dude old and slow..no reason for him to be taking a roster spot..period

That 3rd down play when they gave the hand off to Patterson made no sense, that play should only happen if Harris or Warren are injured.

Your spot on. When we hired him I read from the Atlanta media that was their biggest complaint was his usage of personnel. People were baffled at his lack of use of Bijan Robinson and Tyler Algier getting way more than reps he should have. It really is irritating when Warren is hot and he takes him out of the game. RB’s get into a rhythm the last thing you do is disrupt that. Najee is clearly an inferior talent to Warren but we still keep feeding him the ball. Heyward shouldn’t even be on the team let alone seeing playing time. Our offensive line could not handle the pass rush yet Connor Hayward sees just as many reps as Darnell Washington. It makes no sense to me.

The other issue is his plays seem to take to long to develop. When your offensive line is obviously struggling to pass protect then you have to beat the other team with a short quick passing game. We have no consistent short quick passing game. Throwing an outlet to Najee who is standing flat footed along the sidelines is not conducive to a legitimate short quick passing game. The Chiefs beat us with a short quick passing game. It is how they and alot of other teams neutralize our pass rush. They were innovative in getting guys open on the run so they could produce YAC and chunk plays. How many times this year did we have a fourth and 2 or third and 3 near the end of the game to either close the game out or drive for the go ahead and we threw it long? It makes no sense.

Friermuth and Pickens should each be seeing 10 plus targets a game. Warren should be getting 80% of the snaps. Heyward and Van Jefferson should be on the practice squad. This is an idctment on not just Smith but Tomlin and Rooney as well.

At this point, Aurthur Smith nor Mike Tomlin have any answers to stop the skid, nor does Teryl Austin, nor Does Omar Kahn.

On offense, you find out what your players can do best, and you do that.
I look at what Kansas City has done, they build and play to the players strengths.
Captain Kangaroo would have been a massive upgrade over Matt Canada. I am starting to wonder about Aurthur Smith now.

    Smith in review.
I saw Aurthur Smith up front and close in Washington around '07. He was a Defensive Quality Control guy, mostly in the background despite being the son of a mega rich a-hole FedEx founder.
I forget when, but he left to go to the college level, and was on the Defensive side of that ball.
He was hired as same by the Titans. Somewhere in that mix, Smith emerged on the Offensive side of the ball.
He survived the mess that Tennessee went through, a revolving door of coaches.
Though it all, he then became Offensive Coordinator after serving on former Redskins Matt LeFleur Offense - inheriting his system.
    That's where he got notoriety.

His two years at Atlanta was marred with failures, even being called out for NOT utilizing their highest draft picks.

    So here we are now.
I know Tomlin wants his offense to control the ball and not make turnovers.
    That's about where it stops.
Every team goes in the gameplan devised by the coaching staff, the entire coaching staff.

    RE: Tomlin.
18-years is a long time, an eternity in the NFL.
He has the no losing seasons title well in hand, and despite the bellyaching and hand-wringing that is an accomplishment.
But maybe it is time to move on.
I hold Omar as a responsible party to that. He is the GM and his job is if the coaching is stale, he needs to go to his boss and workout a new plan.

    Old Fashioned?
Well, the Steelers where way behind the game in using the metrics. (as were the Commanders, who made an all-out 150% effort to fix that and be among the best at it )
I think Mike Tomlin is failing to adapt to the new ways.
Additionally, I think the Front Office is stuck in old ways too, they just are not pursuing talent that can impact the game.
TJ is here, true. But they don't find new ways to weaponize him to the fullest.

    a MEANINGLESS GAME?????????

I would rather go into the Playoffs on a win than a loss. Right now losing is becoming a habit with this team.

Also, I really don't like the Steelers chances playing on the road in Baltimore.

The Steelers don't know how to use their offensice talent, and then over-use the players on offense who have no tools, like Patterson, Heyward etc

I think MT is handcuffing AS, like he handcuffs the defense, he's calling all the shots on this team in reality, and we suck.

The probability of winning at that point wasn't zero. But it wasn't much more than that.

And just maybe Tomlin wanted to finally see the defense get its head out of its butt with another series? Gawd knows they need the practice. Might as well do it against a real opponent, cause practicing against the Steelers offense doesn't seem to be leading to much progress.

I'd like to see some creativity with the Fields package. When they line him up under center with a single RB behind him - there's no mystery about what's about to happen, and the D can pin their ears back and go after them.

Why not put him in a true Wildcat with Naj and Warren behind him? Heck, put Naj and CA3 behind him. Sure, CA3 isn't a RB, but he's a speedster and suddenly you have 3 guys that can break it.

How about keeping Russ in AND bringing in Fields? Put him in the slot, put him in motion. ANYTHING - at least make the D have to think about what's going to happen.

    This.

Where's the screen game as well? Especially when they're getting upfield really quickly. Make them pay for it.

What happened to those dumpoffs to Warren over the middle that they utilized for one freakin week.

Quick screens to CAIII might work occasionally. Get the ball in his hands. I've given up on the idea that this team will ever throw a quick slant. You know, the easiest and quickest passes there is. The ones we get burned on all the time.
